Bolg and his orcs spy on the gate to the Woodland Realm. "_ _ _" [Subtitle: The gates are guarded.]
"Shugi golgai. Tud-dad nu!" [Subtitle: Not all of them. Follow me!]
Bolg and his orcs stride away down the river.
In his cell, Kili inspects a shiny black stone with an engraving in his hand. He flips it in the air and catches it on the back of his hand. Tauriel checks on all the prisoners; she pauses at Kili's cell. "The stone in your hand, what is it?" Tauriel asks, catching the young prince's attention. "It is a talisman. A powerful spell lies upon it. If any but a dwarf reads the runes on this stone, they will be forever cursed." He says. Kili quickly holds up the stone toward Tauriel, and she steps back slightly. She begins to walk away but stops when Kili speaks again, laughing.
"Or not, depending on whether you believe that kind of thing. It's just a token." Kili smiles, and Tauriel smiles as well. "A runestone. My mother gave it to me so I'd remember my promise." Kili says, and Tauriel tilts her head. "What promise?" She said. "That I will come back to her." Tauriel looks down. "She worries. She thinks I'm reckless." Kili says; Tauriel quirks up a brow. "Are you?" Kili shakes his head with a small smile. "Nah."
He smiles and tosses up his stone. He misses when he tries to catch it, and it rolls out of his cell, but Tauriel stops it with her foot before it can move into the bottomless pit outside the cells. She picks it up and inspects it. Kili goes up to the bars of his cell then hears elves laughing in the distance. "Sounds like quite a party you're having up there." He says, looking up towards the roof. "It is Mereth-en-Gilith, the Feast of Starlight," Taurel explains and steps slightly away. "All light is sacred to the Eldar, but Wood Elves love best the light of the stars." She continues.
"I always thought it was a cold light, remote and far away," Kili says. Tauriel, who had walked a few steps away while speaking, approaches Kili again and speaks earnestly. "It is memory, precious and pure. Like your promise." She smiles and hands Kili back his stone. "I have walked there sometimes, beyond the forest and up into the night. I have seen the world fall away, and the white light forever fills the air." She says and looks up. Kili smiles. "I saw a fire moon once. It rose over the pass near Dunland, huge; red and gold it was, filled the sky. We were an escort for some merchants from Ered Luin; they traded in Silverback for furs. We took the Greenway south, keeping the mountain to our left, and then, this huge fire moon, right in our path. I wish I could show you..." he says.
They continue talking; Tauriel sits down on the stairs by Kili's cell to listen. Unseen by them, Legolas watches from a distance, his face a blank mask. Silveria suddenly brings him out his thoughts. "Watching the young ones?" She says softly. Legolas turns to her, a slightly shocked expression on his face, before glancing down at Kili and Tauriel again. "You said when we abambusrd them in the forest that they were with you. What did you mean by that?" He asks and looks at Silveria, who smiles.
