"Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"
"I do."
"And do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"
"I do."
Early summer of 2014, very close after S.H.I.E.L.D. was shut down, Natasha Romanoff and Alexandria Rodgers went to a committee hearing — a hearing that was blasted on national tv. Including Emma Stark's tv.
"Why haven't we yet heard from Captain Rodgers?"
"He's resting," Allie simply said.
"He still has not said a word since the incident."
"I don't know what there is left for him to say, I think the wreck in the middle of the Potamac made his point fairly eloquently," Natasha said.
"Well, he could explain how this country's expected to maintain its national security now that he, you, and his daughter have laid waste to our intelligence apparatus."
"That's not true," Allie sternly cut in.
"HYDRA was selling you lies, not intelligence," Natasha said.
"Many of which you seem to have had a personal hand in telling."
Allie glanced over at Natasha just to see her slightly flinch in uneasiness, "Agent, you should know that there are some on this committee who feel, given your service record, both for this country and against it, that you belong in a penitentiary, not mouthing off on Capitol Hill."
Natasha placed a comforting hand on top of Allie's underneath the table before saying, "You're not gonna put me in prison. You're not gonna put any of us in prison. You know why?"
"Do enlighten us."
"Because you need us," she simply said and Allie smiled at her, "Yes, the world is a vulnerable place, and yes, we helped make it that way. But we're also the ones best qualified to defend it. So if you want to arrest me, arrest me. You'll know where to find me," she then stood up, and coldly stared straight at the committee, "Me and my daughter."
Allie smirked to herself as Natasha began to walk out of the room, paparazzi snapping pictures as she did, as well of Allie, "Daughter?"
"Check out my file if you really want to know," Allie said before she sent a playful wink at the committee. She then got up from her seat, following Natasha out of the room, ignoring the flashes of the camera in her face as she went.
Now the entire world knew that Allie Rodgers was actually 'Alexandria Natalia Romanoff Rodgers'. That she was actually from the future, born in 2023, and traveled back in time to 1936, delivered to her 18-year-old father to escape an enemy. No one knew what that enemy was. Just that Lady Rodgers was the product of an unfortunate time loop.
After the girl was given her shield, a new suit, and a new name — she traveled to New York to finally visit an old, but yet new friend. Emma Stark had just finished watching the committee hearing on her large TV in her new large bedroom when the news switched — to Senator Stern being arrested. Apparently, he was a part of HYDRA. But the entire thing just made Emma smile. She never really liked that man. He tried to make her father's Iron Man suits a part of the government, trying to control it and him.
After watching her daily new segment, Emma walked out from her room and down the hall, towards the living room and kitchen area when she was caught off-guard by Allie herself stepping off the elevator, and onto the Stark-Potts level of the Avenger tower. The girl smiled before practically running up to the supersoldier, hugging her in excitement and longing. The girls hadn't seen each other since they parted in 2012. The Stark girl didn't know it, but Allie hugged the girl a bit tighter than she did the last time she saw her. The threat to Emma's life frightened her more than usual.
