Chapter 16: Hypnotic

Liana's at the Talon with Clark. Liana laughs and says, "Clark, you're amazing. Okay, so you're not gonna win any dance contests, but you're definitely not the worst." Clark says, "Liana, I almost started a 10-person pileup doing the two-step. I think the next we should skip the dancing before someone gets hurt." Liana smiles and says, "Well, maybe we should try something else more often." Clark smiles and says, "Like what?" Liana says, "Well, I'll give you a hint. Chloe happens to be pulling an all-nighter at the 'Daily Planet.'" Clark says, "So you have the dorm all to yourself." Liana smiles and says, "All to ourselves." Clark says, "That sounds great, it really does. But I have to get back to the farm. It's gonna rain tomorrow, and I have to put up some tarps." Liana softly says, "Clark, whenever you're ready, I'll be waiting. As long as it takes. No pressure." As Liana gets to leave, Clark gets up and says, "Liana..." Liana softly smiles and says, "I have to go. It's getting late. But I'll talk to you tomorrow." Clark softly smiles and says, "Okay." Liana softly smiles and says, "Okay." Liana pecks Clark's lips and leaves. Later, Lana goes to see Lex. Lana says, "I got your text message." Lex says, "Lana, I apologize for interrupting your Saturday night, but I thought you'd be interested." Lana says, "It's okay, I wasn't doing anything important. What's going on?" Lex says, "My father taught me never to reveal my hand, but I consider you, my partner. If it wasn't for your sister, I would have never known the spacecraft existed." Lana says, "Have you found the ship?" Lex says, "No. But I have managed to track down Milton Fine." Lana says, "What does he got to do with any of this?" Lex says, "Lana, he was seen several times around the warehouse where I stored the spacecraft. And he happened to disappear from Smallville the same exact day the ship vanished. Something tells me it's not a coincidence." Lana says, "So, either you're planning an exotic vacation, or this professor is somewhere in Central America." Lex says, "He was last seen in Honduras. My jet leaves in an hour." Lana says, "Lex, let me come with you, maybe I can help." Lex sighs and says, "Lana, I appreciate your passion, but I have no idea what I'm walking into. I can't risk putting you in danger. I promise, when I get back, I'll tell you everything." Later, Liana walks into her dorm and says, "One word about what? What's going on?" Liana looks at Chloe and Lois for answer. Chloe says, "Um, Lois needs a place to stay. She needs to stay at our dorm room for a couple of nights." Liana slowly nods and Lois says, "Right, uh, the heater's on the fritz." Chloe says, "And I just wanted to make sure I brought it up to you before she said anything." Liana smiles and says, "Okay. Lois, you are always welcome here." Chloe looks at Lois and says, "Great." Lois looks at Liana with a smile and says, "Great." Liana looks at Chloe and says, "I thought you were gonna pull an all-nighter." Chloe says, "Yeah, well, as much as I enjoy a good dose of sleep deprivation my deadline was pushed." Liana smiles and says, "Nice." Then Liana's phone rings and she says, "Hello. Hi. Oh, is everything alright? Yeah, I'll be there as soon as I can." Liana gets of the phone and Lois says, "Who was that?" Liana says, "That was Clark. He said he needs to talk to me. Seems really urgent. I'll see you guys later." Liana walks out the room and closes the door. Later, Liana walks into the loft to see Clark kissing another girl half naked. Liana says, "Oh, God." Liana then walks away with tears in her eyes. Clark grabs Liana's arm and says, "Liana, wait." Liana takes her arm out of Clark's hand and looks at him with tears in her eyes. Liana angrily says, "This is why you couldn't spend the night with me?" Clark says, "Liana, I've fallen in love with someone else." Liana walks away and goes into her car. Liana sobs in her car and then drives away.

Two days later, Liana goes to see Clark, because Chloe told her that he was hypnotized. Liana walks up the stairs of the loft and says, "I've climbed these stairs so many times before why do they seem steeper than ever?" Clark looks at Liana and says, "Thanks for coming by, I didn't wanna bother you at school." Liana says, "Clark, you can spare me the speech about how sorry you are. I know you ere hypnotized and I know that you weren't in control of your actions." Clark says, "I need to be honest with you." Liana softly smiles and says, "That would be refreshing." Clark turns away from Liana and says, "I don't know any other way to say it... but the truth is... my feelings for have changed." Liana softly scoffs and walks in front of Clark and softly says, "Clark, I want you to look me in the eye... and tell me that you don't love me." Clark turns to look at Liana in the eye and says, "I don't love you." Liana's heart breaks and she sits down and says, "I have waited for you to grow up to get over whatever hang-ups you may have." Clark kneels in front of Liana and says, "I never meant to hurt you." Liana softly says, "I don't want another Clark Kent apology. I guess it's actually over between us." Liana gets up and walks away with tears running down her face. Later, Liana knocks her sister's dorm room and Lana opens the door to see her sister in tears. Lana worriedly says, "What happened?" Liana walks into her room and sits on her bed and softy cries, "Me and Clark broke up. He told me he doesn't love me anymore. I just... I have loved him for so long and now..." Liana can't even finish her sentence. Lana comforts her sister and softly says, "Hey. I can't believe he would say that to you. I mean, it doesn't make any sense. He's been in love you you since he was five and now, he saying he doesn't love you." Lana wraps her sister in a hug and rubs her back and continues to say, "You'll find someone who appreciates you and loves you with all their heart, okay?" Liana nods and pulls away to look at her sister and softly says, "Okay. Lana, can I stay with you tonight?" Lana softly smiles and says, "Sure." Lana lays down on her bed with her sister on her chest and Liana softly cries. Lana can't believe Clark broke her sister's heart; she thinks that Liana deserves someone better than Clark.
