Daniel paid for the parking pass ("Thirty dollars for a van? Ridiculous!") and crawled ahead, following all the signs. "Man, the parking lot is packed today," he said, muttering to Lacey to watch her side for an empty spot while he watched his.
Kyle shuffled in his seat, pulling his seatbelt away from his neck. The van suddenly seemed to get very warm after the 'battle of the anthems', which Kyle was beginning to feel slightly guilty about when he looked at Brooklyn rolling her eyes. However, he wasn't going to let that stupid yank and his stupid dimples and stupid accent win. No sir. So, he cleared his throat and muttered, "It's 'car park', but whatever..."
Daniel glared into his rearview mirror at Kyle. "I'm pretty sure it's-"
"Oh, look! There's a spot just over there!" Lacey interjected before Daniel could start another argument.
Daniel grumbled something about the "stupid Brit" and pulled into the spot Lacey had pointed out.
"Alright, guys, excited for the Crayola Experience?" Daniel decided to mess with them a little.
"Danny, don't mess with them," Lacey was definitely going to have words with Daniel in a minute.
"I figured that would be more Kyle's speed," he shrugged. Lacey smacked his arm.
"The Crayola Experience would be way more fun!" Dae exclaimed. "Crayons look so cool when they are melting and I never leave home without my lighter so we could have so much fun watching all the pretty colours-"
"Dae-" Brooklyn cut her arson inspired rant short. "You're really not helping the 'we're not murders' thing here."
Dae laughed. "I don't have a lighter!" She said slightly too loudly and slowly. She leaned her head closer to Syd's and whispered, "I have two! Do you want one? For protection, you know?"
"Obviously," Syd held out her hand discreetly. "I heard that a single crayon can burn for thirty minutes. You know," she paused. "For emergencies."
"I love you."
"Actually, Daniel, I happen to have straight As at school, don't judge a book by it's insanely attractive cover," Kyle snapped and folded his arms.
"You're actually failing the majority of your classes, Ky," Axel added kindly.
"I bet Daniel is a frequent Crayola Experience attendee, you always hear people complaining about the American school system so you know, one can only assume-"
"Kyle! That's not fair!" Brooklyn leaned over to hit his arm.
"Well, I don't pretend to have straight As or anything," Daniel said and Lacey half expected him to follow that statement with "unlike some people". "But Bs are nothing to sneeze at. And I happen to be dating an art major, so what if I have a season pass to the Crayola Experience? It really isn't any of your business."
"Well, I'm dating an English major so we spend our weekends sipping tea with William Shakespeare!"
"Stop arguing about the Crayola Experience and William Shakespeare and just get out of the car!" Dae demanded. "I need to stretch my legs and if you don't move I'm going to use my cramped legs to kick you, Kyle."
"I couldn't agree more, Dae," Lacey said, unbuckling her seatbelt. "Oh, Daniel. A word."
"Ooh, Dorky Dimples, you're in trouble," Syd smirked.
"Just get out of the car Syd!" Daniel huffed. In all honesty, he was just a bit scared of what Lacey wanted to talk about. He knew he hadn't exactly been on his best behavior today.
