Emersion sat in a cell in the dungeons of The Demon Hunters Castle. He wore a magical bracelet to stop him from using any magic. He looked at his wedding ring and suddenly felt tears welling up in his eyes. He slowly started crying as he thought of his wife and son. Davina showed up at the cell door and Emersion looked up at her. "I guess you've come to gloat!," Emersion snapped at her. Davina sighed and looked at him, "I didn't come to gloat. I came to tell you I'm sorry. I know you didn't kill Adrienne on purpose," Emersion snorted, "Say that to The Hawk Clave," And Davina sighed, "The trial is to take place in Vildalion. The Hawk Clave wants to make sure your family witness what you've done," And Emersion looked at her angrily, "I haven't done anything!," And Davina smiled, "It remains to be seen. We shall see what The Dark Sword says. If you're lying or not,"
Eiran entered the hall where Charline sat and waited for news about Emersion. She immediately stood up. "Anything new?," she asked worriedly. Celine sighed, "Emersion is to be on trail by The Dark Sword. It will reveal everything he's hiding. He won't be able to lie. The problem is that they have demanded that the trial will take place here," And Charline looked at them confused. "They can't do that!," Thelmar declared, "This is my realm," And Charline sighed, "They want to humiliate him," Faylinn then stood up and went over to towards Eiran and Celine. "Can Emersion get a defender?," she asked. Eiran looked at her confused, "Yes, according to the demons laws," And Faylinn nodded, "Does the defender have to be a Demon Hunter or a Demon?," Celine shook her head, "No, not according to the demon laws," And Faylinn smiled, "Then I line up to be Emersion's defender," Celine looked at her confused but smiled. "Why?," she asked confused. Faylinn didn't exactly know why. It was just that strange bound between her and the wizard that made her feel like she needed to and Charline was her friend. "Because he is my friend," she finally answered. Celine gave her slight nod. "I understand," she said, "Perhaps you can save my son after all,"
Two days later, Emersion was brought to Vildalion for his trial. Faylinn sat by Emersion's side who stood before The Dark Sword. "Faylinn, place your hands on the sword," Samira instructed. Faylinn turned to the Demon Hunter leader, "Will I survive if I touch it?," she asked doubtingly. "Only if you tell the truth," Samira declared. Faylinn nodded and placed her hands onto the sword. "Do you promise to defend your client with justice and honesty?," Samira asked. "No doubt from me on that," Faylinn declared truthfully and took away her hands and went over to her seat. "Emersion Darkeast, place your hands onto the sword's blade," Celine swallowed and Emersion placed his hands onto the sword. "Make your case, goddess," Samira said and Faylinn stood up. "It's true that Emersion killed Adrienne, but he did not kill Adrienne for enjoyment. He did it to save us," "We are not here to speculate what happened, we are here to declare its consequences," Samira said and Faylinn nodded, "You mean what might have happened if Emersion had not killed Adrienne. She would have destroyed the Gods by now if she had succeeded," Samira sighed and shook her head, "I await a valid argument. Do you have one?," And Faylinn looked at Samira angrily, "What you really want is Emersion gone! My client doesn't deserve this! Since this whole judgment isn't about what it's really about! I move to have this case dismissed," "You're out of order!," Samira declared. Faylinn shook her head, "No, this whole thing is out of order! Emersion hasn't done anything, it's not his fault, it's yours since you are willing to put someone innocent on trial! Put yourself on trial!," And she went over to sit down beside Emersion again. Samira turned to Emersion, "When you killed Adrienne and later Amara, did you know what would be the consequences?," And Emersion looked at her angrily and the sword glowed, forcing him to speak, "Yes! But I did it to protect my family!," And Samira looked at him, "Emersion, I've heard your father sent you to The Demon Hunters when you were nine, but I also know it must be really hard to watch your mother die by the hands of your father, isn't it? Very hard lesson for a nine year old boy, don't you think," And Emersion swallowed, "Yes," And Samira nodded, "I see," Davina stood up, "You've lead us to believe that you killed Adrienne and your former apprentice, left The Demon Hunter community all those years ago just to protect your family," And Emersion smiled, "Pretty smart if I can say it myself," And Samira turned to Emersion, "I suggest you think how smart it would be if Amara had gotten The Demon Amulet and used it to corrupt the humans of Shivanna!," And Emersion looked at her angrily, "I didn't want Amara to succeed!," "Well, that's the first saying thing I've heard from you!," Samira declared. And Emersion shook his head, "You know what's insane!? Thinking we have the rights to treat the Gods and their creations lives as worthless!," Davina looked up at Emersion warningly before she spoke, "Emersion, I should warn you that everything you say here will be considered in the verdict," "Good!," Emersion declared and turned to everyone in the hall, "Consider this! Adrienne didn't come out for Aurora of nowhere! We use our demon blood to justify everything we do, just like her!," And Eiran and Celine nodded. "Like her," Emersion continued, "We forget that we are not only demons, we are a part human! We can be afraid! And fear makes us cruel! We turn on our godly allies just like my father did! And just as my father did, we will end up turning on each other!," Samira looked at Emersion, "You think we're doing that to you?!," And Emersion turned to her, "You will have to answer that for yourself... Demon Hunter leader,"
Faylinn stood up from her seat beside Emersion, "I'd like to call Davina to the stand," she declared and Aidan smiled proudly at his sister. Samira looked at the goddess confused, "I don't see the relevance," she said. Faylinn smiled, "Well, that makes two of us. I don't see the relevance of this whole trial," And she turned to Davina, "Lady Davina," Davina stood up and went over to Samira. Faylinn walked over to face Davina, "I just have one question. Why are you prosecuting this doom?," Davina swallowed. "Answer the question, daughter!," Samira declared. Davina swallowed, "Because the demon laws are hard but they are the laws," And Faylinn sighed. "But that doesn't make them right," Davina suddenly continued, "We're trialing someone for being compassionate, caring, thinking for himself," she declared, "Emersion saved lives that was being sacrificed for nothing but evil," "That will be enough, Davina!," Samira said. And Davina shook her head, "No! It isn't!," And she turned towards the crowd, "Looking out at the faces here. A demon Hunter couple who disagrees on many things except how much they loved their adoptive son and how loyal they are to each other. A goddess who took this case.. Pretending to be brave. But believe that injustice towards her friend is intolerable," And she looked around, "Loyalty, decency compassion, love! These are the concepts we should consider to decide guilt or innocence in a case like this!," Samira slammed her hand at the table, "Those are not the concepts of the law! Now enough of this nonsense!," she declared. Davina nodded and glanced at Charline and smiled, "I agree. The case is nonsense!," And Samira looked at her shocked and Davina stood up, "I withdraw the charges!," And Emersion smiled and Faylinn smiled and the crowd started clapping. Faylinn went over to Emersion and hugged him. Davina smiled. Gideon used his magic to blew out the case papers. Samira stood up, "Order!," And she looked at her daughter, "If you think refusing to exculpates the defendant, you are wrong! Emersion is guilty!," And she stood up, "The defence was correct. The Demon Hunters wants the amulet. If it is returned by the latest hours, this doom will be off. If not, Emersion will be stripped of his powers and runes and sentenced to exile to The Normal world never to return,"
Later that night, Davina entered the great hall with a smile on her face and went over to Emersion and Charline. "The amulet is returned. Emersion, you're free to go," And Charline hugged her husband and Davina smiled and turned to leave. "Davina," Emersion interrupted and Davina turned to him, "Thank you," Emersion said. Davina smiled and left.
