━━katerina loved wearing dresses. she loved how easy it was to wear and how easy it was to remove. she also loved how men, women and others would stare at her when she wore them. they stared at her even as they took their last breath — literally. her in a dress was often the perfect distraction as she placed a knife just above the heart.
as she walked towards the slat, her home, katerina smirked, feeling eyes on her. it was a dangerous thing, really, walking the streets of ketterdam in a dress like that, starting just above her breasts and ending where her knees were. but no one would dare approach her.
she was katerina petrova, after all.
her reputation made people watch, but not touch.
so, despite looking like the most delicious meal, she held her chin high and held her coat. the sleeveless dress didn't help with the cold weather, not at all, but katerina refused to wear it. what is the point of having this body if i cannot flaunt it?
it was reckless, thinking she was safe. no one was ever safe in ketterdam, kaz told her when she entered their shared room late at night once. katerina threw her coat on the floor, placed a hand on her hip and the lungs were momentarily pulled out of kaz's lungs.
he scowled and she laughed.
kaz brekker.
━━he was one of the first people she met when she arrived in ketterdam almost two years ago. it was a funny first-meeting, to be honest. she was trying to steal his wallet; and she had succeeded. katerina didn't know she stole from kaz 'dirtyhands' brekker, however. about fifteen minutes since she stole the brown money keeper, kaz had cornered her in an alleyway.
she tried summoning the air out of his lungs — something kaz would later realize to be one of her favourite things — but his cane slapped her hands each time she tried to do anything. so she did what she would normally do if she could not rely on air, she removed her coat and relied on her body.
but instead of gawking, instead of being like any other man — something katerina would later realize to be an impossible thing — kaz continued to hit her hands with his cane until eventually he grabbed both of her hands, "you're grisha?"
"no, i just really love waving my hands around in the air, wanna see?" katerina spat but she didn't expect to sound so tired. she had been travelling by water and feet for weeks now and she had yet to sleep.
there started the friendship between dirtyhands and the vixen. days after her arrival in ketterdam, kaz asked if she wanted to join the dregs, a gang led by a man named per haskell.
a month ago, katerina would have laughed at the idea. a gang? a-month-ago-katerina would have said while she laughed. what business would i, the most feared grisha, have in a gang? no, i'm not the most feared grisha, the most feared person. but now, the katerina that lived in the present, the katerina that needed to survive accepted his offer and the two teenagers wreaked havoc in the streets of ketterdam.
