Hanji's POV
"You're back," Aliza smiled towards me as I entered the science classroom. One look around, and I saw that Moblit did leave the science club. That seems to relieve and a bit painful at the same time. "How have you been?"
"Fine, I've been fine." I smiled, "Any updates while I've been gone?"
Christen nodded his head, pulling out a binder from his backpack. "Yeah, there's one. Do you remember the spring dance? Right before it, we were chosen to help hold the spring festival."
"Wasn't that the student council's job to hold it? Not a single club?"
Ester began to speak up, defending Christen. "They are, Hanji. it's just... well, we've been assigned for decorations. All of those... I'm not sure what to call them other than miscellaneous things. I'm not quite sure of how science relates to those things, but we're just going to brainstorm. We have a theme for the spring dance: flowers."
"Isn't that usually a theme for spring?" Finch chuckles to himself. "What was it last year? Butterflies? It's just some sort of aspect of spring. Maybe next year, we should vote on no themes. It's a little boring..."
"Says the one guy who doesn't have a date to the dance." Someone snickers.
Speaking of which... I don't have a date for the dance. Who should I ask? Or weirdly... who's going to ask me?
"It's too early to be asking for dates. Besides, it's just some silly dance." Ester scoffs, "Juniors and seniors would have a huge after-party- just like they do after every single dance at the school. That's where the fun is."
"Then can't we just crash the party?" Finch questions as Ester quickly shoots him down again.
"No, because only juniors and seniors get emails for the after-party. If you want to go, you would need to be asked by a junior or a senior. Anyone to be asked is lucky."
Aliza points to me, "Don't you know a few other juniors or seniors that are going to the dance alone?"
Well, there's Levi... Erwin's probably going to ask Marie to the dance, so I can't say him... and Levi... well... if his only friends are Erwin and me, he's not going to like the idea of taking some stranger to the dance. Maybe he won't go to the dance.
"Earth to Hanji!" Aliza shouts at me, chuckling. "I think you do know someone to take you to the dance, right? For the after-party."
"I-I do know a few... but they either would have a date or they wouldn't want to go to the dance at all. Anyways, let's brainstorm on a few things. As part of the school clubs, we need to have a stall at the festival. And we have to sell a few things as well. What could be considered something to sell, but also relates to science?"
We all thought for a while until someone piped in: "Tie-dye things. We just went over chemical bonding in my class. So we could sell some tie-dye things." We all murmured in agreement.
"Alright, that's one thing we can sell. Perhaps we could do a baking thing?"
Aliza shook her head, "Well, the baking club is selling a lot of desserts... so... I'm not too sure about it."
"What about pie? Slices of pie." Finch suggests, making everyone's stomachs growl with hunger. "Sure, pie is related to math, but also science. Tie-dye and pie. It's just the start of it. Aliza, you can talk to your friends at the baking club about us having the chance to bake pies. Hanji, is that good?"
"Perfect. Oh, and what about candles? We can sell scented candles."
"We can start with the candles. We have the dye and wax. Just need to fetch some string from the arts and crafts club." Christen then makes his way towards that classroom. We all divided the things we wanted to do and went our separate ways.
* * *
"What are you doing?" I looked up from melting some wax, seeing Levi right next to me. "I thought this was science class and not an art class."
I chuckle to myself, carefully pouring the wax into the correct molds with string already in place. "Well, it's for the spring festival. We already put in an order for a few pure cotton items to tie-dye in the upcoming future. And a few school designs."
"But why are you making it now? The festival isn't until next month."
"Yeah, but we only have 4 club meetings until then, Levi. We don't have enough time. Would you like to make a candle? You can take it home. Think of it as a gift."
He shook his head, "Maybe next time. I'm guessing you're going to the dance after the festival?"
"Ehh... Levi, I'm not the dancing type of person. I just go there for the free cookies and pizza we get for being part of a club. Otherwise, I don't dance. You're not going, right?"
"But you'll be at the dance, right?"
"Ehh... technically, yes, yes I will."
"Do you have a date?"
"Are... are you trying to ask me out?" I watched his pale cheeks turn red as he looks away. He's cute like that... "Well, I will have a date... if he stops stalling and asks me right now."
He then utters the cutest words: "Will you be my date to the dance?"
"Of course, I will."
