Hanji's POV

An unfamiliar car pulled up to my house, and it alerted both of my parents. They were murmuring to each other before turning to me. "Hanji, do you have someone coming over?"

"No, not that I know of..." Seconds later, someone began to knock on the door, and I saw him peeking his head at the window. I smiled softly, getting up from my feet. "Ah, it's Levi."

"Levi?" Dad rose an eyebrow at me, "Sounds like a boy's name. Is it?"

"He's just a friend that's taking me to the spring dance after the festival. I don't know why he's here... I'll get the door." I could feel my dad's stares on my back as I went to the door. Opening it up, I see Levi shyly walking away from the front door. "Levi, you're here- why?"

"I... I was wondering if... you would want to the mall... together... if you're not busy right now..." His eyes shifted away, unable to look at me. "Is... is it okay?"

Turning behind me, I see my dad walking up to the door, pushing it open. Levi, intimidated, walked away by a few steps. "Who are you?"

"Levi." He says, a little bit sternly, looking up to Dad. Strangely, it seemed that he completely changed... like he was used to the intimidation. It's... surprising to see... "I... I came to see if Hanji's free to go to the mall. Not... not as a date... just to hang out with her. I'm her friend."

Dad raised an eyebrow, sighing softly. "How long are you guys going to be gone?"

"Before 6 pm, that's for sure."

"Hanji, do you want to go with him?"

"Of course!" I wanted to shout, but instead, I calmly nodded my head and smiled. "Yeah, I do. And don't worry, I'll make sure he'll bring me back home before 6. I promise, Dad." I smiled, seeing him grin just a bit. I turned back to Levi, unable to hide my smile, "Give me 10 minutes to get ready- I'll be out in a jiffy!"

"I heard what happened to Hanji a few days ago with her previous boyfriend," Dad says as soon as I descended from the stairs. They didn't seem to notice me because Dad continued. "How do I know you're not trying to take advantage of her?"

"She's one of my only other friends, sir. And... I thought that I should hang out with her more-."

"Because you like her?"

Levi was silent for a second, and I think I got the right answer... "I feel guilty... trying to be close to her... but she's my friend. I don't have many friends, and she's one of the only people who helped me. I want to return the favor by being a friend..."

So he does have a crush on me... but that's so thoughtful...

"That's all?"

"Sir, I just want to be her friend. Just until she moved on from Moblit... then, I'll... I'll see if she likes me. I don't want to take advantage of her... I promise. I just want to be her friend."

"Okay then. I'll go check on Hanji."

I quickly ran up the stairs, pretending I just finished getting ready. "I'm here!" I say loudly, kissing Dad's cheek. "I'll be back before 6- I promise." Dad waved me goodbye as I followed Levi to his car. "I thought you didn't drive."

"I worked hard on getting my license... your mom is really nice, and I really appreciated when she drives me home. But I think that it's a little... rude... having someone drive me home all the time..."

"Wait..." I chuckle softly, thinking of being a little mischievous. "How long have you been driving...?"

"A few weeks-."

"What?! I can't trust you with the car!" I laugh softly, getting into the passenger seat. "Don't crash the car."

"I promise you, I have no intention of getting into a car crash today." He then turns to me with a small smirk, "unless you want me to."

"Why would I want you to get into a car crash?!"

"Just joking."
