The evening had barely started to settle in but the cold wind blew through y/n's bedchambers and the candles shimmered one by one as she went through lighting them. A thud of someone stepping in made her startle and turn around alarmed. It was just Inej coming in through the window. Classic Inej.
"Seven hells—" she breathed out. "You scared me."
Inej stepped in further going to her side "We need to leave now."
"-Now?!"
"That's all Kaz said." Inej shrugged.
"-He didn't give any prior warning!" Y/n exclaimed agitated. Inej wondered why she took this information slight annoyed.
"Not unusual for Kaz to never let us in on his plans from before." In all honestly Inej too was annoyed with Kaz keeping all the plannings to himself and letting them know at the end minute. But they're going to get away from here now. Silver linings.
Y/n strolled past her towards the doors looking back at her "Can you stay here for a while I need to talk to him I'll be right back!" She left the room hastily ignoring Inej's protests.
Y/n walked through the corridors and the gardens to the quarters in a fast pace. Reaching there she barged into Kaz's chambers who was gathering his stuff didn't even look up to see who it was. Quite focused and with the wild opening he figured who it could be.
"We have to leave now?!" She asked in an irritated voice.
He shushed her and began "Yes. Have you packed your belongings?" He strolled in that tiny quarter picking his belongings.
"What if they catch us this sudden?" Y/n exclaimed again as he took no notice of her whining and went on with his packing. "You said you'd let us know—you said we had time!" She continued.
"And now I'm saying we don't!" Kaz stoped in his tracks for a moment before continuing packing.
"This isn't fair you do this every time there are so many risks of us leaving now!" She explained but seemed more like she tried to bargain.
"—Jesper's preparing wagon for us to leave it would be nice if you would stop shouting in my ears teaching me how to do things."
"How come out of nowhere you decide to leave? All these days you were still writing ravens  to someone?" Y/n still wasn't having it.
"—Y/n we are leaving. Now."
"No we're not! You're telling me your plan. Who were you writing those ravens to?" Y/n knew she was pushing really hard here. It did take a lot speaking up to Kaz eitherways.
"Fine." Kaz sighed audibly and turned to y/n "It was your brother Jon. He's alive-I was writing to him and he's promised to meet us halfway to kibrisk. Your family misses you he wishes to take you back to winterfell." Kaz explained to her calmly so far he was the only one who knew y/n was a stark and where she came from. Y/n froze in her tracks she couldn't make out half of what he said.
"Jon? He's—he's alive?" Y/n said his name for the first time in a long time and it almost felt unreal.
"You can see the letters." He turned aside pointing to his little desk the letters had all the wolf sigil of her house on the seal she didn't need to read them. "I wouldn't lie to you about this-your brother already left for Kibrisk a fortnight ago-Jesper would be right outside by the back gates could you go get Inej and meet us there."
She was feeling a sheer happiness of going back home again. Y/n nodded hurriedly excusing her back to Inej. In no time they met Jesper and Kaz outside the back gate and were off of little palace grounds. She didn't think about what she could say to Aleksander or a goodbye even. Maybe that was it. Her time with Aleksander, maybe it wasn't meant for a goodbye-it wasn't even bound to happen in the first place but it did and it felt nice. It was unusual and nice but she was going home now. Winterfell. The true north that was her home and she had been away for a long time, her smile wouldn't stop the entire time thinking of home.
-
It was nightfall by the time the four of them got to the outskirts of Ravaka in a barren jungle. They decided to skip any lodge on the way to not cause suspicion towards them.
Kaz suggested all of them took turns in sleeping till the sun up and started a small fire with wood from nearest trees to sit around. Kaz and Inej sat on the either end and Jesper and y/n were on the other feasting hungrily from the bread they stole from little palace before leaving.
"So you're a stark. That's a noble house. Does that mean I've to call you a 'lady' then?" Jesper had so many questions after Kaz explained both of them everything about y/n  on their way.
"I don't know no one's called me that in a long time." y/n said with a mouthful of bread eating.
"Stop talking with your mouthful! Don't they teach you that?" Jesper faked an annoyed sigh.
"Shut it." Y/n said again, with a mouthful.
"Lady y/n? Has a ring to it—better yet Lady stark." Jesper said repeating it to see which one fits better.
"Lady y/n of winterfell." Y/n finished for him grinning widely. She hadn't used her name with her house in years.
"Did you have to attend royal balls growing up?" Jesper questioned.
"-Balls and greets and feasts and gowns and music! Lots and lots of it-but you had to be nice and polite to everyone there I didn't see much of it though—not a lot after we left home." she said looking down thinking if it would've been different if she had stayed.
"There must be a lot of people in those?" Jesper asked quickly trying to change the subject.
"Yes! Lords and ladies and a lot of stable boys-too" she said teasingly as Jesper let out a disgusted huff.
"A lot of grisha generals too I take it?" He joked back y/n nudged his elbow.
Jesper continued with his questions seems like he wouldn't run out of them the entire night as Jesper and Kaz conversed their route sitting across them.
"Y/n's brother has promised us whatever we wish for if we can return her safely to him." Kaz stated to Inej on the side.
"Would you have helped them if he couldn't pay us?" Inej asked but she knew the answer. Dirty hands, bastard of the barrel, Kaz brekker would do anything for money but she knew very unexplainably that he would do it for family to. Even if it's not his.
"What?" Kaz felt accused as though she has questioned his morals. As though she had tested if he had any feelings.
"Would you help their family if they weren't noble royalty but poor peasants?" She understood his answer in that 'what' yet again he's Kaz brekker who has a smug reputation to maintain so he wouldn't admit right away.
I would, anyday. He thought. He knew what it was like to loose family, loose a brother and he could never go back to his but at least y/n could and he tend to do whatever it required to help her. "I am going to sleep wake me up whenever someone else need their turn." He said turning the conversation not wanting to answer.

In a moment all the giggles from Jesper and y/n sitting across and the silent smiled Kaz and Inej shared were about to fall down. Horses neighing caught their attention they turned around from the fire to see the red kefta troops marching towards them. Kaz even sought to look for a way he could at least get Y/n to escape with the either of them but before he could sway anyone that plan in a second they were circled by the troops.
It was all so sudden. They hadn't committed a crime running away from little palace. Y/n knew that she felt devastated if this was it she would never get to go home again. The soldiers were quick to get off their horsebacks before the four of them could gather together the soldiers shouted consequent "it's them" among themselves. In the very next moment they were pushed on their knees as the troops chained their hands taking them back with them. Back to little palace y/n figured.
No no no no no no no. This couldn't be happening. Even when Kaz struggled under their grips on their way still looking around to see if they could best off any of those troops. They couldn't. They were outnumbered and y/n had lost hope of seeing winterfell again.
