Forenoon:
"Never mind! I'm okay with staying at home alone!"
"I am sorry kid. I wanted to stay with you for these two days during the year's end, but I feel so bad..."
"It's okay Mom. Do your best at work. Bye!"
"Bye, Yunhee", her mom said before hearing the beep that ended the call.
Earlier in the morning, when Yunhee started to feel the crumps in the lower abdomen, she cursed inside her head for being alone in the house. Her mother had to go out of Seoul for a destination wedding with her make up team and it isn't abnormal for Yunhee to stay alone at this point.
But these days, she feels weak easily. Simple, small things make her heart go crazy and feel like she's not going to do her best even if she tries hard. Sometimes she feels that the world can anyday go against her and she will be left alone on one side, with no one.
She somehow managed to get washed up and take a painkillers to reduce the crumbs and shivering.
The phone buzzed before she could head out to have lunch. She picked it up.
Jun.
"Hey", he greeted.
"Hi!", Her pale voice greeted back.
"Um I'm sorry I can't come this afternoon to meet you. I'm a little busy so maybe we should postpone it to Saturday?" Jun has this habit of talking very fast when he has something to say.
"Oh, it's alright", Wow, the only person she could talk to today is unavailable now, "I myself wouldn't have been able to come either", she blurted out and immediately regretted it.
Now she needs to explain it.
"Why? Has anything happened?" Jun asked.
"Um, nothing... I'm.. I'm a little busy too!"
Lie.
"Oo, I see", but fortunately Jun buys these lies easily.
Yet, he doesn't refrain from asking questions, "with whom... are you busy?I mean what are you doing?" He asked.
"Am I supposed to tell you everything?" Her mood swings took the upper hand on her, "did you tell me exactly how busy you are today?" She played a query which was not quite relevant.
"A-aniya, I just asked..."
"And who are you to ask that to me?" She didn't raise her tone but anyhow it sounded a little rude.
Jun got silent. He tried to finish the call with an "okay", but Yunhee's realization made him stop.
"I.. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have talked to you like that, right?" She bluntly exclaimed.
"I can tell why I'm busy though. I have to edit the vlog to upload on my YouTube channel. That's it", Jun stated.
Yunhee wanted to hit herself so bad now for being an idiot. "You didn't mind, right? Honestly, I am not busy. I'm a little sick.."
"Oh, really? I see", Jun replied.
"You got mad, right?" Yunhee kept on trying.
"Take care and get well soon, Yunhee! Should we meet on Saturday or should we postpone it until you feel better?" Jun questioned.
"No. Not Saturday. Tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll be alright. Let's meet tomorrow at the public library!", Yunhee tried hardest this time.
"Aniya, let's do it on Saturday--"
"Tomorrow", Yunhee cut off.
Jun sighed, knowing he can't win. "So I'll ask you many questions tomorrow. Are you ready with what we learned on the last day?" Jun asked straight.
"I'll be ready! Promise!"

31.12.17
Evening
Jun didn't talk much.
He just continued to teach her some new phrases, some new grammar and some connectors.
Yunhee quietly followed his gaze and his words. From time to time, she would look up and observe his expressions.
Nothing strange.
"You got it?" He pointed his finger over the tablet on the desk.
"Huh? Oh y-yes. I got it".
She didn't even listen to the last sentence.
"Then", he tapped on a particular part of the tablet and zoomed in, "tell me what it means?"
"I-it means.. attraction... N-no addiction.. no, I..."
Jun's eyebrows formed a frown and looked at the girl with utmost confusion. "Addiction? Attraction?"
"I'm sorry!" She whined. "Can you repeat this part again?" Yunhee makes the best use of her puppy eyes in these cases.
But Jun didn't even focus on that.
"Yunhee, you brought me out on a day when I wasn't even willing to come out of my house. And here you aren't even concentrating on what I'm saying!", Jun crossed his arms on his chest.
"I am sorry. But let me ask you please. Are you still mad at me for the way I behaved yesterday on the phone?" Yunhee landed on her elbow on the desk.
"Is that even important now?" Jun asked.
"Yes, it is. You don't have any idea how bad I felt after talking to you that way. I blame it on my mood though, but I feel so sorry.." Yunhee trailed off.
"I'm not mad. Who am I to be mad at you in any way? We have known each other for not even two months. But I wish to know what made your mood so bad. Please explain Min Yunhee!", Jun demanded, with flattened lips.
Yunhee sighed.
But strangely enough, she didn't feel uncomfortable bringing the topic up.
"My.. my periods came so I was feeling very weak.. and... And as you know my mom has not been home for two or three days, and I'm all alone at this year-end time. I was in a really bad mood", Yunhee puckered her lips sideways.
Jun unknowingly made her lips form an 'o' while listening to her carefully. He felt bad for her as well as felt guilty of being mad.
He tells himself every time before coming to meet her. "Junhui, you are no one to her, just a Chinese teacher. Once both of you are done with this, your ways will become parallel; not intersecting ever!"
He huffed in silence. "Now I'm feeling sorry that I --" he started but was cut off instantly.
"And then the only person I was supposed to meet yesterday was you! But you also canceled it because you were busy...", She trailed off as she pouted secretly.
(To be continued...)
