"And then the only person I was supposed to meet yesterday was you! But you also canceled it because you were busy...", She trailed off as she pouted secretly.
Jun's mouth parted open. "She was excited about meeting .... Me??", He thought.
"But then I felt that I was a bit too rude to you!", Yunhee stopped and looked up at him, "but..."
"But?" Jun was loving the fact that she was talking so much unlike any other day.
"But, I believe that you lied to me!" She crossed her arms.
"L-lied to YOU?" Jun felt his eyes go bigger at her complaint.
"Yes you lied. You definitely were busy with someone else and you just told me about some editing, videos, YouTube etc.."
Jun didn't believe what he heard. He chuckled softly at that before adding some salt to her doubt. "So whom do you think I was busy with?"
"I-i don't know. Maybe your family or girlfriend or someone else...", She looked away before continuing, "anyways that's not my business too! You can be busy with anyone and everyone. I shouldn't be talking about that--" Yunhee was cut off as her eyes fell on a mobile phone very close to her eyes, of course Jun's hands were holding that.
"What is it?"
"YouTube channel; the one I was talking about yesterday. Have a look." Jun told her as he handed over his phone to her.
Yunhee scrolled through the screen and consequently her mouth hung open. Vlogs, eating shows, various content on Chinese and Korean culture and language distinctions...
"You're a talented person.. Wait! 135K SUBSCRIBERS! You--you're FAMOUS!" She chirped in a delighted tone as a sweet smile danced on her lips "oh my god, I'm friends with a famous handsome guy!"
Friends.
Handsome.
Jun gets shy easily. He tried to hide his face with his palms but feeling it would make no difference, he smiled back at her. "Aniyaa, I'm not famous! There are numerous YouTubers nowadays with that many subscribers."
"Come on!", She whined, "I don't even have three friends in my school and here 135K people follow you! See, many of your videos have even hit over a million i--" she put the phone down on the desk and put her hands on her forehead before looking up at Jun.
"I don't have a girlfriend. Neither a family. Most of my time is taken up by this YouTube channel and the rest, nowadays, well... yeah, it's you!"
Is it Yunhee's heart that started to beat so hard?
Indeed, it is.
No, she needed to divert the discussion. "So... So you are a YouTuber professionally!" She tried to make the fact register inside her head. She hasn't met any full time YouTuber yet.
"Yep. A youtuber or a vlogger you can say. I had something to upload today. But as I'm here, I can't do that. So..", Jun left it unfinished.
"Oh God! I didn't know you were busy today and I brought you out. No, I mean actually I knew but- Shit, I'm so sorry. We should head home then...", Yunhee almost got up from her seat.
"We're not going home any time soon though", he looked up.
"What do you mean?" Yunhee blankly stared at him.
"Let's have dinner first and then I'll drop you home", Jun said.
"Umm it's pretty late! I want to go home.. ", Though she told her mom that she was supposed to meet her Chinese tutor today, her mom didn't really know that she would be out this late at night.
"It's 9 already. If we go to eat something, then it'll take me 10:30 to reach home", Yunhee reasoned.
Jun's real smile disappeared and a false one painted his face almost blue. "Oh! O-Okay, then at least let me buy you something to eat at home!"
Yunhee still tried to protest which was immediately taken down by Jun, "Yunhee, listen to me please. Your mom isn't home. As for being older, let me do it for you, please? Aren't you hungry?"
Yunhee expected a rumble inside her stomach at that moment, and it happened, just to be an embarrassment to her.
"Okay", she sighed in defeat. After buying her some night snacks, he almost forced Yunhee to eat some cold noodles with him in a roadside restaurant.
Paying the bills and getting out of the eating place, Yunhee faced Jun to thank him, "My mom always scolds me why I don't call you Oppa."
Jun, who was busy managing the changes and his card properly inside his wallet, looked up at Yunhee, "that's.. that's quite sudden and.. out of topic", he left her chuckling.
"I don't reply to my mom ever. But now that you're treating me with meals, being 'older', I guess I should call you 'Oppa', right?" She put up a suggestion.
"No.. Jun is good. Let it be like that. Don't change it", Jun said in a mellow voice, "wait, let me book a cab for both of us. I'll drop you first and then take that cab to my place".
"Hold on. The last bus has not left yet. I'll take that bus from the bus stop, but I have to hurry!" She looked at her wrist watch, "Bye Jun. Had a very good 31st with you. See you next time!", she waved and turned on her heels to walk swiftly to the bus stop.
Jun blankly stared at her for some seconds, still holding his phone which was searching for a cab. It's not strange to him nowadays, that Yunhee doesn't care about him.
Everytime he would think, now Yunhee would definitely share the similar emotions as him, some of her actions make him think differently.
And again, some enticing events take place before he could wish to completely dive into it to take a sip of life with her. Take a sip of love too, maybe. "T-take care", he spoke with a raised voice.
