To Be Or Not To Be: A Talenny Fanfiction

Chapter 2

Penny hummed to herself as she sat on the kitchen island. Brain shot her a look.

"What? Is it weird that I'm happy?" Penny asked as she nervously laughed. Brain was Penny's loyal best friend but even he didn't know about Talon.

If Uncle Gadget or Brain ever were to find out it would not only be the end of Talon and Penny's relationship but also their trust in her.

Brain didn't exactly know why Penny was acting weird but he could tell that she's hiding something.

"There's nothing wrong with being happy in the morning." Gadget said as he was putting down bowls of green glop, which seemed to be cereal, that didn't look at all desirable or edible.

"Um, thanks for the um breakfast?" Penny strutted. She had never told her uncle that his kitchen skills were out of this world. And she didn't mean that in a good way.

Gadget stared at his niece waiting for her to taste the glop. Penny suddenly found it hard to breathe and Brain prayed for her. Slowly she reached for a spoon, took the smallest spoonful ever, and lifted it to her mouth.

Thankfully Chief Quimby pops out of the fruit bowl catching Penny off guard.

"Hello, Chief care for some breakfast?" Gadget asked.

"No Gadget, I'm afraid we have more pressing matters at hand." Chief Quimby said as he handed a mission ball to Gadget. "We believe MAD is going to find the lost city of Atlantis where a powerful mega weapon lies that was said to be the very reason why Atlantis is at the bottom of the ocean. If MAD gets their hands on it, who knows the damage they'll cause. Your mission is to find the lost city of Atlantis and secure the weapon before they do."

"The lost city of Atlantis!? Ohh this mission will be amazing!" Penny yelled.

"No time to eat breakfast then." Gadget added. "To the G-portal."

Inspector Gadget G-portal teleported them to a dock where Talon is already there with a map.

Penny tippy-toed towards him and grabbed the map. But Talon would not let go and they ended up ribbing the map in half.

"Oh look at what you just did!" Talon complained.

"What? You ripped the map!"

"No, you came and grabbed it so you ripped it. But whatevs I can still beat you with half of the map anyway."

"Are you suggesting a friendly competition?" Penny asked.

"Yep. You're not a big chicken now are you?" Talon taunted.

"No. Just be prepared to lose."

"First one to find the mega weapon wins!" Talon declared as he jumped on one of the mini-submarines and launched away.

Penny did the same motion but first to Brain to watch over Uncle Gadget. She raced to catch up with Talon but was in awe of the underwater city. The submarines launched them into an underwater cave where the lost city of Atlantis resided in the middle. Because they are currently in an underwater cave, they didn't need a diving suit to breathe.

Penny parked her submarine next to Talons. She whipped out the map to find the mega weapon but her side of the map didn't show where the weapon was. "Guess it's time to rely on the basics," Penny said to herself.

She looked around and spotted a building in the center of the city. She also spotted Talon flying there. She smiled, "Well that was easy."

She ran towards the building and up the many many steps. Inside were robot sharks attacking Talon. Penny would have helped but right now she and Talon were competing. So she used Talon as a distraction so she could sneak by but some of the robot sharks noticed and started attacking her.

"Oh so close." Talon teased.

"You're trapped too you know," Penny added. "But not for long." She said as she used a robot shark laser eyes to attack another. Pretty soon she took out all the robot sharks.

Talon took advantage of Penny's busy state and snuck by her towards the mega weapon. Just then Dr. Claw called, "Talon! Where is my weapon!?"

"It's right here. Now how am I supposed to get it out of here?"

"Use the laser I gave you. It'll wrap the weapon in a bubble where you can carry it out. Now hurry up so I can destroy Gadget!"

"Yeah yeah I know. Now how do I use this?" Talon asked as he inspected the laser. He punched a button and bubbles popped out. With his rocket boots, he flew around the weapon covering it in bubbles until the weapon was trapped in a giant bubble.

Talon sighed as he now had to push the weapon, tie it to the submarine, and then fish it out of the water into a MAD boat.

Penny came in after demolishing the robot sharks but Talon bubble gunned her to the floor. Inspector Gadget came blasting through the doors with Brain hugging him for dear life and popped the bubble.

"Ha, looks like you lost Talon!" Penny yelled as she got her foot unstuck. She began walking towards him.

"Um no! I won fair and square. So it looks like you lose."

"Well, you cheated! I would have gotten here first!"

"But you didn't." Talon leaned closer and whispered, "See you tonight." But he did it in a way where it didn't seem like a romantic hidden massage.

Penny shot him a shy smile before he flew out of there. Chief Quimby came in and said "great work Gadget! You stopped MAD before they could get their hands on the mega weapon and potentially destroy the city."

   "All in a day's work."  Gadget announced.

   After getting home Penny reminded her Uncle and Brain about her sleepover at Kayla's.

   "I'm all packed and ready to have some fun. I'll see you guys at HQ, okay?"

   Gadget and Brain nodded in agreement. But what they didn't know was that Penny was secretly meeting Talon for a midnight rendezvous.
