Chapter 7

"What do you want?" Penny demanded.
"To see you."
"There shouldn't be a reason to see me outside of work." Penny crossed her arms but for a moment she had caught his gaze. Upon seeing their red, tired eyes a moment of understanding came to them.
"You might hate it but I didn't care." Penny said softly. "It was the best thing for both of us. I wanted to protect your future."
"I understand. But you were being selfish. You can't make a decision about us by yourself." Talon tried to keep his voice low so he wouldn't disturb the neighbors but it was rising.
"I'm sorry but I thought it was for the best!"
"If you confided in me then you would have known that I love you. I understand our problems go beyond normal couples but we're anything but normal."
Penny's eyes started watering. "I love you too."
"I know. It's pretty hard for you to not." Talon smirked. "But I'm glad you do." He held out his arms and Penny hugged him back. "I'm glad you do too." She whispered.
"I want to make a promise to you." Talon took a step back. "I promise to always love you no matter what." He bent down to his knee, "Will you do me the honor of marrying me?"
Tears surface to Penny face "I do! I promise to love you no matter what. But." She trailed off. "What will happen if we do get married?"
"I have no idea but with the best HQ agent and the best MAD agent working together I'm sure we'll figure something out."
"Whatever happens, I'm glad I'll face it with you." Penny sealed their engagement with a kiss.
