Words Can Really Hurt

She wasn't meant to hear the conversation- in fact, she knew it wasn't for her ears. She couldn't help herself though.

"You seen the new girl?" A boy asked. Linda thought his name was Drew.

"Yeah. Although, is she still considered new? She's been here since the beginning of the year," the other boy, Travis, mused.

"Okay, the hot blonde Italian."

"Yeah, I've seen her. She's a babe!"

"Too bad her thighs are sewed together," Drew sighed.

"That is too bad. I'd love to tap that."

"Same!" His laugh made her stomach churn. "All the teachers say she's a good student... I'd like to teach her a lesson, if you know what I mean."

Travis laughed the same way Drew had, "and she's not helping the thought by wearing those clothes. They're modest, but... wow."

"Very shapely! She's just furthering the idea with that skirt she wore today."

She looked down at her skirt; what was wrong with it? It was only a plaid skirt that hit two inches above her knee. I like this skirt...

"I for sure thought Reagan could get her to change her mind about the whole virgin-til-the-wedding-night thing."

"I thought so too. He's be the one to do it, too, you know!"

She walked away just then, not wanting to hear anymore of their gross discussion.

***********

Rosita frowned, "It's a Friday night. Why aren't you out with Danny, Tesora?"

Linda sighed, thinking up a quick excuse. What was the one she gave to Danny? "I have a migraine."

"I'm sorry.... but that's not all. Something else is wrong, I can tell."

She groaned, "were you some sort of wizard or something in a previous life?"

Rosita smiled when her granddaughter plopped herself at the dining table.

"What happened today?"

"I heard these two guys... talking about me."

By the look on her face, Rosita guessed it wasn't a nice discussion. "Let me guess... you weren't supposed to hear this particular discussion. Giusto?"

"Giusto," she nodded solemnly. "They... were talking about how they'd be the ones to change my mind about waiting. They said that, um... that they wished my thighs weren't sewn together. And that they'd... like to teach me a lesson."

Rosita put a hand on Linda's shoulder, "Mi dispiace tesora."

"Grazie, Nonna." She sighed again. "There's... something else they said that's bugging me."

"Che cosa?"

"They said that if anybody could change my mind about waiting, it'd be Danny."

"He hasn't, has he?"

"No, no! No, he's been-" she was about to say a complete gentleman, but then she remembered the Lori Curtains issue. "Great. But I know what he used to be like. I just wonder sometimes...."

"You know, whenever I was having tiny doubts like that about my relationship with your Nonno, I always talked to him. I could always talk to him"

"You want me to talk to Danny on Monday." Linda sighed, rolling her eyes. She didn't want to talk to him about this! That was why she was talking to Rosita!
