Norman was fast asleep in one of the houses in Alexandria. They had just shot one long sequence of scenes in the evening that had quickly drawn into midnight and then the early hours of morning. Norman had picked one of the set houses the crew had built for this portion of the series. He had quickly fallen asleep under tons of blankets on the couch.
It was cold in the houses. They did not have air ducts, or gas, or electricity due to the fact that they were just giant set pieces. The only way to warm the houses were tiny space heaters run by generators. Unfortunately the generator in Norman's house of choice was about to run out of gasoline.
Outside it began to snow lightly. There was just enough humidity in the air to turn into rain and then turn into snow. The ground in the yards was cold enough for the flurries to stick and stay. Crunches from boots of the crew scurrying around, making sure the houses' generators didn't die. The cast all slept in the houses the crew built so there wouldn't be as much crew vehicles on the streets and driveways.
There was a rattling of the door before it slowly opened, followed by the scraping of shoes on a doormat and then gentle footsteps into the house. The figure attempted to grab the door before it slammed shut due to its own weight, but was unable to catch it in time. Norman groaned and sat up. He was surprised to find Emily Kinney standing in the entrance, covering her mouth with a mittened hand.
"Hello?" Norman said.
"I was trying to surprise you, but, uh, the door," Emily said.
"I heard," Norman smiled, "Whatcha doin' here?"
"I was bored, sitting in my apartment waiting for my manager to call, and I figured 'I have a boyfriend to entertain me at times like this.'" she smiled.
"Nice to know I have a purpose for you. What did you have in mind?"
"I was hoping you'd think of something."
Norman started to laugh. He gripped his sides as he laughed. Emily frowned and arched an eyebrow. She didn't understand why him thinking of something was funny.
"Ems, it's freezing outside and I haven't slept in a long time," Norman said, "They just worked the entire cast through a long series of shoots without breaks."
"So?" Emily said.
"So I can't think of anything other than sleep."
"Well," Emily said, taking off her boots, "You want someone to help keep you company?"
Norman lifted the blankets and scooted over on the couch. Emily got on the couch in front of him. Norman wrapped an arm around her and let the blankets fall over them. Emily turned to face him and placed a kiss on his lips. He smiled and returned the kiss.
"I love you," Norman said.
"I love you," she returned.
