Kendall was searching through the channels, praying what happened last night didn't make the news.
If Mom finds out that I went to a strip club... Kendall could already see the horror on her mother's face.
"It's not gonna be on the news." said Adriana chewing a mouthful of donut. "They probably wrapped it up soon after we left the place!"
The young artist dressed loosely in her bathrobe, face unwashed and hair like growing weeds. She refilled her coffee from the catering cart, sat heavily on a chair and rested one leg on the table, gulping down like there was no tomorrow.
Chloe and Kendall slept in Adriana's suite for the night. After sharing the same bed and bathroom, all formality went out the window.
"You have a press in an hour, rehearsal by noon, and a charity dinner at seven." Chloe came in all dressing sharp, reading off the schedule from her phone.
"Please! I hired you as my bodyguard, not my assistant!" Adriana whined, stretching hard and yawned. "How are you NOT tired from last night?"
"Like you doing press after press. Hard training, I guess." Chloe smiled.
Like the day before, Don and Don greeted them on time at the conference floor. The two guards were as exhausted as their boss, all hiding their dry eyes with sunglasses.
"Any pranks I should know today?" Chloe asked as they made their way towards the conference room.
"Not that I know of, but I'll shoot anyone in plain sight if they try to disturb my nap." Don with blonde hair spoke in dry throat.
"Guys, let's get this over with so we can all go back to bed." Adriana sighed.
They took the same positions as the day before, with the two Dons guarding the stage, Chloe at fire exit and Kendall at the other door. Either Adriana has given up asking Chloe to join her, or she was just too tired.
The press conference was no different from the last, almost identical, like reliving the same day all over again, with another host asking the same questions, and Adriana replying with the same polite smile and fake accent. Chloe could tell the young artist was fighting to stay awake, she never remove those sunglasses.
This is the life of show business. Chloe thought. Take away all the glamour, one has little left for themselves, even the way they speak.
When her mother pulled her out from the show, she felt her dream shattered, but now she was glad she had her normal life back, at least to an extent.
The press conference ended with the usual meet-and-greet. This time Chloe moved closer to her protectee, Adriana and the Dons gave her a respectable nod.
"Can we get a picture?" asked two teenagers giggling in excitement.
"You'll be the next in line." Chloe gave a polite smile.
"No, I mean with you, and Kendall."
"I'm sorry, this is Adriana's show."
"Of course you can!" Adriana stood and came, waving Kendall to join. "Ladies, this is Chloe and Kendall, you all know them from DANCE MOMS!"
Suddenly, all fans attention turned to the two cast members.
"Adriana, I don't think..."
"Nonsense, Chloe! You two are my best friends!" the young star laughed out loud, and then whispered to her ear. "Cover me for an hour, I'll get you a spot in my movie!"
Adriana shoved the girls into the crowd, then slowly backing away as she spoke.
"That's right fans! Ask them anything you like! And take as much time as you need! They're my BEST friends!"
The young star soon disappeared at the door, along with her two bodyguards.
"Did she just throw us under the bus?" Kendall asked through her teeth, trying to maintain her smile for the cameras.
"She sure did." Chloe chuckled, joining her fans for group photos.
