(chapter 3 - red card)
I QUIETLY BRUSHED PAST ALL THE STUDENTS in the hallways as I tried to ignore the whispers flying around me. Everyone seemed to be staring at me as I quickened my pace towards my locker. The last thing I wanted for the school year was for people to notice me, and that is exactly what I managed to do on my first day.
I tried shaking off the stares and continued walking until I made it in front of my locker. My hand felt especially heavy as I lifted it to touch the cold metal. I slowly pushed down on the lock and watched as the locker door swung open in slow motion. I lifted my gaze up to the top of my locker and saw it.
Please no.
Not that, anything but that. Sure enough, there was a red card resting on the crack of the top of my locker. I didn't think twice before quickly snatching it off and crumpling it in my palm. I began to hear people's voices growing louder as cameras began clicking on phones.
Ding. Ding. Ding. Ding. Ding.
My own phone began vibrating with new messages. I felt myself begin to shake with nervousness as I put my hand into my pocket and pulled out my phone.
anonymous: little sister got a red card
anonymous 2: she deserved it, let's get her!
anonymous: keep an eye out for the older sister too! it's time, get them!
I quickly stumbled backward as I shoved my locker closed and placed my phone into my pocket. The fabric of my uniform began to feel uncomfortable as I began running away from the crowd that was now chasing after me. I prayed that Gorya would be okay remembering what Thyme had told me. I had chosen to take the punishment for Gorya, I just hoped that he kept his promise as well.
