I didn't know where I was going. I didn't know where I truly wanted to go. All I knew was that I needed to get as far away as possible from that venue. My ankles had begun aching, the sides of my heels digging into my feet, however, I didn't feel the pain. The only pain that I could feel was the one that came from inside my heart. I had opened myself up to him. I had chosen to believe him when he told me that we were in this together. I wouldn't have believed his mother or Roselyn as the two of them stood on stage announcing his engagement, but I had heard him. I stood like an idiot in love waiting for him to tell everyone that they were lying, but instead he had agreed. My mind continued swirling with emotions and before I realized it, I found myself back at home. The familiar sight of my home added another layer of pain to my heart. My face was stained with dried tears. I took one step toward the front door before stumbling back, my ankles beginning to give out beneath me. I let out a sigh of frustration, reaching down to my feet before removing my heels. I brought my hand that wasn't holding my heels up to my hair, brushing it to the side. I slowly dragged my feet toward our front door, the familiar scent of my home-invading my senses.

I took a deep breath staring up at the front door. My hand suddenly felt a hundred times heavier as I raised it, preparing myself to knock. I shook all doubts out of my head, reaching forward and knocking on the door.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

I kept my composure, waiting for someone to come to the front door. A second passed, then another, then another. I raised my hand once more, knocking on the door. However, nobody came to answer it. That was when I turned my head to the side, looking through our small window and realizing that the lights had been turned off. I shook my head in disbelief. I felt goosebumps slowly rise on my arms as the night air began growing colder. My hands slowly let go of my heels, the sound of them falling onto our doorstep echoing in my ears. I slowly crouched down to the ground, my dress pooling around me as I sat down. The concrete scraped against my bare thighs, the feeling bringing me back to Earth. I let my head hang by my chest, allowing myself to take a couple of deep breaths. I heard someone's heels clicking against the pavement as they cautiously approached me. I lifted my head, my eyes immediately meeting the gaze of the other person.

Gorya slowly approached me, a comforting smile on her face as she sat down next to me. I watched her reach around me, picking up both of my heels before setting them down in front of us. She let out a sigh, her eyes going to the night sky before turning to the side and looking at me. I watched as she reached over, slinging her arm around me, before pulling me into her side. I didn't resist, instead, placing my head on her shoulder.

"How did we end up here?" I asked her.

She let out a small sigh, gently shaking her head in response.
