Manny. Was. Pissed.  I mean I've seen him mad but even his neck and bald spot turned red.  Mad that I had figured out how to tap into corp lines and use a mint condition transmitter all on my own.  But again he "knew what he was signing up for when he hired me."  He's more mad I didn't tell him I didn't receive a call than jump to take action right away. That didn't matter help was coming and I'd be right there to help Abe-
"Y/n!  Stay at home base Red is coming with for this one.  I'll go grab him and send Liz to you.  You stay here at head quarters and work that transmitter till we get the team to safety."
Are you kidding me?! The love of my life is in danger and Manny says stay here and do the technology thingy with your smart brain.
"...yes sir."
"Do you have a problem with us rescuing Abe agent l/n?"
"No. It's just-. No please go help him."
"It's just what? You don't trust my actions? Or is there something else I should know about you and Mr. Sapien's relations?"
"Um- relations?"
"No need to play dumb Agent l/n. I'm well aware.  Word travels fast and we have eyes everywhere.  If your going to be more than a team then you need to trust the corp will help make sure you two stay a team."

And with that Manny left.  He also left with my words because I had nothing else to say to that. I was fuming.  But I also appreciate that Manny and everyone understands how much Abe truly means to me.

Liz came flying into headquarters quiet literally half disheveled hair everywhere in her pajamas.
"This better be good babes because Red and I were just getting to the good part when Manny and his big bald head came barging into Reds-"
"It's Abe.  He's in danger."
"Oh shit."
"Yea my sentiments exactly."
"So what's going down with fish sticks is he ok?"
"I guess the fairies over ran their camp he gave me coordinates and told me to send back up asap. He said they were hiding in a bunker but every one was safe."

A loud buzz rang through the head quarters office the transmitter was receiving a line. Liz ran to the satellite server and pulled the cord to make sure it's signal was optimized. While I connected the lines.

"This is agent (y/n) receiving transmission. What's your channel and status. Over."
"This is Manny. I'm adding the camps transmission to the channel. Coordinates have been located we're about 40min till landing. Hang tight till further instructions. Over"

"Copy that. Over."

Liz let go of the cord and walked up to me. Placing her hands on my shoulders giving me a reassuring squeeze.

"The hardest part of Red going on these missions is knowing help takes time. Sometimes that time seems endless. Abe is crazy smart. I've had the absolute honor of being in the field with him. He never risks anything high stake without good cause and good outcome. Abe will pull through. The best way for you to be a good partner is to be there for him and be the best back up he could ask for."

"Thanks Liz. You can probably read the worry all over me. These past couple weeks with him have been...ideal. The idea of loosing him so soon has me horrified. I've never felt more comfortable with anyone my entire life."

" I can tell you mean a big deal to him. You know before Abe settled down with you he fell in love once. She was killed it was tragic they just declared their feelings and nothing ever happened of it. It made him swear off of love. For a good long time he thought it was a sick joke that "a monster like him would get love to have it killed in front of him." It killed me every time hearing this from him. I told you that he has never clicked so fast with someone than when the two of you were partnered together. Abe swore off love all together. The man was a shell of what he was he lost pops and the first person to ever share feelings for him within a week. But I'm seeing him restore faith in not only himself but love in a short two months. All cause you trusted him. I don't get too serious too often but Abe is a dear friend and seeing someone take genuine care of him and treat him normally gives me hope. Especially because Red and I are going on a leave of absence. See when everything with Pops happened I found out I was pregnant. Red and I are planning on leaving the compound for awhile so I can have the kids not under a microscope and being reminded we are scientific anomalies. I want to know not just for Reds sake but mine as well that Abe will be taken care of. I know your the person for that (y/n). "

"Liz I'm. I don't know what to say. I appreciate your honesty. And thank you for telling me all of this. And most of all I'm so excited for you and Red!"

"Just promise you'll keep it in the down low. Manny has agreed to meet us in the middle on some changes in the bureau so I can raise kids comfortably and still help people like us."

"Absolutely. I won't speak a word unless you tell me otherwise."

"Plus it'll be good for you and Abe. Maybe one day you'll start a family."

I can feel the heat rush to my face at the idea.

*time skip*

It was well past 3am Liz and I wear barely sentient waiting to hear from Manny Abe or Red about when they'll be coming home. We got updates. Landed at such time, made it to the bunker at this time, located Abe and the team. Now we were waiting for the broadcast to say they made it out. 5 cups of coffee and a change into comfy clothes and slippers later and we finally had received a quick broadcast from Red.
"We're out of here. Get those showers on and running it was a messy clean ups. See you in 40."
And just like that the line was dead. Liz turned to look at me from her slumped stupor in a over sized office chair blankets clung around her and the coffee she held now tucked up in her knees tucked to her chest.

"See the boys are fine. I'll go get the showers turned on in a few. You stay here and kill the transmissions."

I simply nodded. We were past the point of talking. We were too tired to care and we resonated quietly to ourselves knowing exactly how the other felt. 20min later Liz was up walking to the locker rooms to turn the hot water on for the boys. I took it amongst myself to go back to the library to grab Abe a fresh towel and clean clothes. It's the least I could do to make him feel at home. The landing bunker was chilly and dimly lit against the morning sun rising. The golden rays barely touching the tops of trees. As the chopper landed and pulled into the landing dock I could see Red restlessly hop up and get out before the chopper could stop moving. He was covered head to toe in blue and green foul smelling goop. He looked miserable and marched right past me only giving me a quick one shake wave from his hand. Soon to follow was my aquatic partner. He looked tired and was covered in the same goop. I noticed a small cut on his cheek bone. I ran up to him and stopped myself from a hug. Jesus he reeked.
"Yea it smells atrocious. Fairy spit. Much like ants they use their own saliva to help build nests. Unlike ants it has a sedative in it that helps get unlucky folk like red and all of us extremely dizzy when coming in contact with the nests structures of willow branch. I highly recommend not hugging because it is very very sticky."

I couldn't help but giggle. He's always ready to teach me something. I'm just glad he's ok.

"I was worried about you. I'm glad your home safe. Let me walk with you to the showers. I have clean clothes and towel here for you too."

"You are an Angel how did I get so lucky?"

"Oh it's nothing. I just wanted to do something for you to say how much I missed you. And how much I love you."

He stopped in his tracks. I wonder if he could read that I was going to say it. I've been thinking about saying it since he left.

"I most certainly did not hear you think that. And I am absolutely taken back. If I was t covered in fairy spit right now I hope you know I would be holding you in my arms so tight- I love you too. I love you more than you'll know"

"How about you shower and then tell me about it ok? Plus it's killing me I want a kiss from my partner so please hurry up."

"Anything for you darling."

He took the clothes from my hand gently running over mine and stopping to enjoy the brief contact. I'm so glad he's home. I can't wait to have a nice break and learn all about the fae he encountered.
