Consciousness started to slip back into Alexi's mind. She started to try and open her eyes before she realized what was happening. She was moving upward at quite a fast pace. She felt the cold metal beneath her that she knew all too well. She had been here just three days before to see off three newbies that were being sent up. "Shit, no, no, no, no."  Alexi was in the box, being transported into WICKED's maze trials. WICKED, those sick basterds. They had told her that they had chosen one of the other candidates to deliver their message, to complete this suicide mission.

                                                                               ~two days earlier~
A women stood at the front of the room. Her brunette hair tied back into a tight bun at the base of her neck. They where in what looked kind of like a classroom. 9 teenagers including Alexi sat in a row. About 20 minutes earlier, she had been escorted from her cell (Ok, bedroom I guess.) to this classroom and was now waiting to hear the women speak.

"As some of you know-" the women started, "The maze trials are going much slower then first anticipated. So to move things along we have come up with a nearly fail safe plan." That's how it always was with WICKED, only nearly fail safe. "Each of you are possible candidates to go into the maze baring a message." The women continue. The other kids look either shocked, ready to vomit, or ready to pass out, and some looked like all three. Alexi wasn't surprised though. She expected to be sent into the maze sooner or later. And for all she was concerned, she deserved it. She had done some bad things to the people that she loved. Her best friend Newt, his boyfriend Thomas, and all of her other friends: Minho, Frypan, Ben, Alby, Gally, it was all her fault they were in that hell... and most of all- "stop" she told herself. She pushed the thought from her mind, not wanting to finish it.

"Three groups have yet to complete the maze. There are 9 of you, three candidates to choose from for each maze."

"Which maze are each of us the candidates for?" A random boy asked.

"I'm afraid that is classified." The women answered. It kinda sucked. If they might have to go into one of the mazes Alexi would at least like to know which one. It hardly mattered for her though. If anyone remembered anything about her, they would hate her anyway.

"Listen carefully, for the following are instructions as to what to do if you are selected. You will know if you are selected, you will be taken in for the Swipe just like always. Then you will be put in the box and sent up. You will regain consciousness in the box but we ask that you not open your eyes. WICKED has developed the technology to temporarily delay the Swipe's affects for 90 seconds after you open your eyes. Then you will pass out for approximately 6 hours, and when you wake you will not remember anything. During your 90 seconds you must relay the following message 'I am the last one ever, the box is going to stop coming up and you will run out of supplies. The walls will stop closing and you will no longer be safe from the predators of the maze.' This is in an attempt that the message will prompt the groups to find an exit to the maze or they will die." Everything was silent for a few moments before the women said " You will now be escorted back to your rooms."

And that is how you know WICKED is truly evil. They just basically gave 3 of the 9 kids a death sentence and acted like it was a Friday afternoon school lecture.

~ the night before Alexi is sent into the maze~

Alexi was sitting in her room/cell, it was a ten foot square with bright white plaster walls. In one corner there was a bed next to it was a night stand. In the opposite corner at the end of the room there was a small bookshelf and in the other corner was a small punching bag. There was a small door in the empty corner that lead to a bathroom about the size of a postage stamp.
