Chapter 19

"What do you understand? And what does Adrian have to do with it?"

- "Adrian is a guy without expressions. A flat line when it comes to people generally speaking. Only few can cause any kind of reaction from him.

And all would be as it usually is if I didn't notice a small miniscule, but unnoticed reaction regarding tonight's party."

"Wait. If I understood well: he had a reaction regarding the party. So what?

As if that means anything."

- "You're wrong. It means something. And it somehow has something to do with you – But in what way- I don't know."

You have no idea. I thought to myself. The guy is in love.

- "Anyway: the details of last night's disappearance and today's fight are still left unexplained.

The only thing I am 100% sure about is that Adrian has something to do with it.

Sammy and I spent the whole morning trying to piece it all together but failed.

You'll wear this."

She said giving me a long turquoise skirt that reached the floor, with a high waist and a navy-blue top. The earrings were as same color as the skirt. She combed and fixed my bangs back with a headband that had many little flowers on them.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I concluded that I looked like one of those forest nymphs.

"What shoes should I wear?"

She smiled and brought up the navy-blue sandals.

- "There!" She looked at me with satisfaction "Now for the makeup and some perfume."

"And you?" I looked at her curiously.

- "I got something prepared."

And soon, she was in a fuscia pink dress that accentuated all of her goods.

- "Now we can go."

Going down the stairs, we saw Adrian talking with Sammy. Sammy had his back turned while Adrian had a fixed and tense gaze on us for a few seconds. 

He quickly turned his gaze back to person he was talking to. No reaction.

I should really stop looking at him like hungry kid would look at cookies.

- "We're ready!" Thea chirped.

- "My! What can I say?? Bff number one: You look like everyman's dream."

Thea chuckled.

"And you give off everyman's comments. Do something original!"

- "You're the complete original, my dear! That color does fit you well."

"Ah, don't get carried away now Sammy!"

- "Why love? Are you jealous?"

"Flatterer."

- "Here, now's your turn. Bff number 2: You look so stunning tonight, as if..." He stopped and put on his mischievous grin.

What is he coming up with now?

- "So stunning as if you're about to see Maddox!"

"Smartass. You really have some sense of humor!" I said while throwing a glance at Adrian on the way out. He was sitting still while looking at his phone, lost in thoughts.
