science class

Y/N's POV:
I impatiently tapped my fingers on the hard wooden desk of my last lesson for the rest of the week, which was unfortunately science.
"The summer solstice is the longest day of the year, and fun fact about it-"
The sound of the science teacher turned into a blurred mess as my mind couldn't seem to focus and instead kept flickering to the clock above the whiteboard.
"10 minutes," I thought to myself. "I don't know if I can wait that long."
"I know it's last period on a Friday, and your all very tired but I hope you've been taking notes because as you know there will be a short test on it Monday," The science teacher stated, as if sensing my thoughts.
My eyes widened and I scanned the rest of the classroom for their reactions, biting my lip worriedly once seeing everyone seemed to be completely fine with that statement. A finger tapped my shoulder and I turned around, looking down at a notebook being offered to me.
"You look a bit worried, so I'm assuming you need these?" He said, his smooth and calm voice contradicting the shake in his hands.
"Thank you so much," I blushed, gracefully accepting the notes as I looked into the boy's dark blue eyes. "I swear this is the first he mentioned it."
"We were told about the test on Tuesday, but I assume you weren't listening." He smiled softly, making sure to keep his voice down and occasionally peeking at the teacher in front of him and behind me.
I felt a little embarrassed as I looked through the notes, then I turned around back to the boy. "Don't you need them?"
"I've already memorised them, it's ok." My eyes graced over his figure and I realised I've never really noticed him before. He was slim with a sharp, thin jaw line and his hair was a dark brown that lightly covered portions of his race, his skin was clear despite the small dark circles under his eyes, which I assumed from his deeply organised notes was from studying.
"Is everything ok?" He asked nervously, his slender fingers fiddling with one another as I realised I was staring for too long.
"Yeah sorry," I blushed and my eyes made their way back to his. "Uh, so, what's your name?" I asked sheepishly, wishing to continue to conversation and fill the silence.
"I'm Killian," he introduced himself, perking up slightly.
"Nice to meet you, that's such a nice name. I'm Y/n."
"I know," he said, softly smiling at me. I was a bit taken aback by this response and obviously struggled to hide it as Killian grew panicked by the my response.
"I didn't mean it like that, I just mean you've been sitting in front of me for some time and I've heard the teacher say your name."
I opened my mouth to respond but my teacher clearing his voice rather loudly interrupted me. I turned back around and smiled at my teacher. "Is there something you'd wish to share with the class?" He rhetorically asked and I rapidly shook my head in response, to which he eventually went back teaching.
After a minute of thoroughly inspecting my fingers and thinking I realised where I've seen Killian before. I turned back around once the science teacher's back was turned. "I remember you from the library when I first came to the school."
His eye's widened and his lips parted slightly. He looked surprised. After a few moments of silence he spoke. "Yeah. You were always there after school reading in the corner."
I smiled, missing that period of relaxing I had, but not missing the lonely feeling that came with it. "Yeah, and you were at the one of desk's close by. You always had the best taste in books," I giggled softly, reminiscing.
He offered me a small smile in response before I turned back around, not wishing to get in trouble again.
A heavy feeling was lifted from me at the sound of the bell, signalling the weekend. I packed up my things and turned behind me again. "I was nice meeting you, well officially meeting you."
"You too," he smiled and I could feel his eyes stuck on my as I left the classroom, a warm feeling bubbling inside of me as I was pleased with my new friend.
