Y/N's POV:

"Any plans for the weekend?" A tall dark haired girl asked beside Y/n as they walked side by side.

"Probably going to go clothes shopping. I wear the same thing every weekend," I stated and Yuri hummed in agreeance.

"What about you?" I asked, not wanting to be rude.

"Coach is forcing me to run timed laps around the oval because my time was slower than normal at training, and now Cassie wants me to go a party because someone," she glanced at me, "didn't want to come."

I awkwardly laughed, noticing the Yuri's switch in tone. I could never tell if she liked Cassie or not. She never said anything mean about her or challenged her, but she never sounded enthused at the idea of her.

"Well," I turned to face her, "have fun at the party then." I smiled at her as we parted ways and Yuri bid be goodbye. I was jealous of her, really. She was so athletic and beautiful, she didn't even have to try to get people to like her.

.
.

Saturday finally came and I looked around the shopping mall as I blasted music in my ears, ignoring the all the texts from a hungover Cassie due to the party prior. After a while of walking around and window shopping I decided to get something to eat.

My eyes landed on what I thought was a pretty good fast food chain, and waited in que, fiddling with my bracelet as I endlessly scrolled through my phone.

"Y/n?" A voice called and I looked up from my phone to see a familiar pair of dark blue eyes.

"Killian? What are you doing here?"

He smiled, walking up to me and joining me in the que. "I needed a few things." He motioned to a small bag in his hand.

"Stationary?"

He nodded, "I like writing letters."

We decided to order food together, and I was happy with his company as we sat down together in the busy mall. I didn't like being alone, especially in public places. It always made me feel vulnerable. I pretending not to notice Killian's lingering stare as I focused on my food.

I eventually looked at him and admired his sense of fashion. It was simple and classic, which I expected knowing his personality. My eyes wondering to a watch that lay snug on his wrist. "Gosh. How much did that cost?" I thought, taking a sip of my drink.

"So," I finally spoke, sick of the silence. "I don't really know much about you."

He nodded. "That's probably because we never really talked before."

"Well, what kinds of stuff do you like?"

Killian straightened his posture, and his eyes bore deeply into mine momentarily before he looked away, thinking.

"Well, you know I like to read," he started, and I nodded in response, "I like art, and I love cats and dogs, I don't really have a favourite."

I smiled along with him as began to talk more about himself, seemingly more comfortable as his slender hands were no longer shaking. We began exchanging information about each other, and Killian seemed eager to learn more about me.

I was about to answer another question before a girl interrupted our conversation. "Y/N?"

My heart began to beat rapidly as I slowly turned my head to the girl. A knot tightened in my stomach. I shook my head, unable to talk. From the corner of my eye I saw Killian closely watching the exchange.

"It is you! I mean you've changed your hair and you're wearing makeup but I could never forget you."

"I'm not Y/N," I smiled, attempting to conceal the quiver in my voice, "y-you have me mistaken."

"No," her voice became sterned, but a smile was still placed upon she face, creasing her heavy makeup. "Don't lie to me." Her hand went to grasp mine but Killian was faster. He stood up suddenly and clutched the girl's wrist.

"You heard her" he began, getting closer to the girl and eventually towering over her. "You have the wrong person, so I suggest you leave now." People around began to stare at the scene and the girl seemingly assed the situation.

She hastily removed her wrist from his hold before sparing me one last glance and walking away. I pushed my hands in-between my thighs to hide in heavy shaking. Killian gently placed his hand on my shoulder. "Are you ok?"

I fought back the tears, not wishing to appear weak in front of him. "Yeah, thanks. I don't know who she is."

Killian looked at me for a few seconds before shaking off his thoughts and sitting back down.
"So then, what were saying?" He asked, leaning his head on his hand.
