'please, please don't be late'
Takemichi stepped on the gas pedal as hard as his inner panicking. It was almost late afternoon. Anything more and this could get dangerous. He really hope he was not too late or they would be dead. He didn't remember about it much but he remembered chifuyu telling him that when it was 3rd August everything went downhill.
It must be 'it'. After all, the apocalypse had been a month.
He guessed these three were the higher-ups in the gang that weren't coming back by what Chifuyu told him. Probably dead when he heard them yelling in the store. If he hadn't decided to get the generator today, he guessed they would be dead by then.
Along the way to the shrine, the mobs just increased the farther they went. Takemichi pursed his lips before addressing the other three.
"Listen, we almost reached them. Grab the baseball bats my friends left in the back" Mikey, Draken and Baji looked at the back, seeing three bats reinforced with the nails. "When I stop the car, immediately run out of the car before the undead surrounds the car completely."
"...couldn't we just park the car somewhere and walk there?" Mikey asked hesitantly.
Takemichi looked at the broken rearview mirror and saw their confused faces. He sighed before addressing them once again, "look behind"
Mikey, Draken and Baji just took a little glance behind when their eyes widen. There were already too many undead behind them, following them with a normal-paced. The sound of the engine must had attract them.
"If my suspicion is not wrong, there would be a lot of them further. You get what I'm saying?"
Takemichi didn't get any verbal response but he could see them nodding at his words slowly from the rearview mirror. He nodded to himself, satisfied with their response.
The others didn't know what his suspicion was but they just knew that it was not a wrong move to trust the ravenette. So for now, they would listen, as long as they could survive.
"Follow me but don't make any sounds" they wanted to protest by saying that it was hard, but Takemichi cut them off before they could voice it out. "I know it's hard but please try, try to be stealthy, if it still fails I will have your back"
The three looked at him in awe. He looked so cool saying that while driving excluding the scenes where he ran into the undead with the car without any hesitation. Woah, that was brutal.
"We're here" Takemichi said, attracting their attention. Their eyes widen when they saw what happened. There were too many of the undead. When did this happen? Did this happen after they left to search for food?
Worried churned in their stomach. How were the others?
"In the count of three, get out of the car" They looked at Takemichi and nodded in determination. They would make sure their friends were okay.
"One," Takemichi changed the gear so the car would stop safely. "Three!" The moment he stepped on the break, Takemichi and the others immediately get out of the car, hitting any undead that was coming for them to escape. The others were lagging a little since,
'what happened to two?!' they thought.
One of the undead almost reach for Draken but Takemichi immediately hit them. He said he had their back so he was not going to back down from his words. He just nodded his head when Draken sent him a grateful look.
The three followed Takemichi towards a truck, the undead were less there. They caught their breath desperately while Takemichi was watching around, searching for any opening. When he saw some way for them to go to the others, that was when he saw a key dangling in the truck.
