Killua ran into Sophia's room, hearing her cries. She was still asleep, yet her whining and whimpering were the loudest sounds. She was having a nightmare, Killua was aware of this. She usually had nightmares for a while after she left her mother's house. That was the first strike for him.
Killua softly caressed Sophia's hair, whispering reassuring things to her. In situations like these, he opted against shaking her awake. It could cause detrimental things. That's what we don't want.
Sophia woke up slowly, her eyes fluttering open. But, all she saw was the darkness in front of her, with the faint moonlight inching its way through the blinds and curtains, which were both closed, might I add.
"Dad?" Sophia mumbled softly.
"Hey, sweetie." Killua replied, caressing her hair softly.
"Dad, is Soph okay? I heard some whining." Ava asked as she walked inside of Sophia's room.
"She had another nightmare." Killua informed her, scooting over so Ava could sit beside him.
"You okay?" Ava asked her little sister.
Sophia shook her head, "No.."
"It's okay, sweetie. We'll stay in here with you until you fall asle-"
"No," Sophia said, shaking her head. "I'm ready, dad."
"Ready for what?" Killua asked, tilting his head. "You want to go back with your mom?"
Sophia shook her head frantically, "No, I'm ready to tell you what all goes on when I'm with mom."
"Oh..." Killua said, "Well, go ahead. I'm listening."
"When, I was with mom, she would have a lot of guests over..." Sophia said.
"Did those guests to anything to you?" Killua asked.
Sophia shook her head, "No. But, when she would invite people over, she'd tell me to stay in my room. She said if I bothered her, then I wouldn't be able to eat the next day. She said it would be embarrassing if her guests knew that she had a child, that they would lose interest in her, like how she lost interest in me."
"Soph..."
Sophia shook her head again, continuing, " The first time, she didn't lock the door, but after that, she began locking my door and turning off my light. Then she would light a candle, she said that that was the only light I was allowed to have."
"I'm so sorry, sissy." Ava said, tears forming in her eyes.
"S-She would take my remote so I couldn't watch tv, she would take most of my toys, leaving me with the quietest ones, and she wouldn't talk to me for the rest of the night. She made sure I ate and had a bath before she locked me in my room, though."
"That doesn't make it better, baby. It doesn't. The fact that you're young and have to deal with this is sad, it's not right. I'm going to make everything better, okay?" Killua said, hugging Sophia.

"She told me some things about her mom and what she would do," Killua said, sitting on the counter as he watched Gon cook. The kids were all playing in the bedrooms.
"Was it bad?" Gon asked, reaching into the refrigerator.
"She basically treated Sophia like a prisoner, she would lock in her room with just a candle and a few toys. No television, no games, no nothing." Killua sighed, "That has got to be mentally torturing her."
"Being locked inside a quiet room with seemingly no escape is a form of mental torture. So, that could play a factor in you being able to get full custody of her. Have her explain it in court to the judge, that'll make it even better."
