"Hey, dad?" A little girl asked as she stepped into her father's bedroom, holding her phone to her ear.
Killua looked up from his phone, sighing, "Yes, Ava?" He replied.
"Marley is having a sleepover tomorrow night. Is it okay if I go?"
Killua thought about an answer for a few seconds, he didn't even know Marley. So, of course he decided he had to meet the Marley's parents before anything was decided.
"Sure, but only if I meet Marley's parents first," Killua replied to his impatiently waiting daughter.
"You hear that, Marley? He wants to meet your dad first." Ava said with a roll of her eyes.
Killua heard some words being exchanged between two people through the phone. He couldn't really make out what was being said, but he heard a deeper voice. So, he assumed Marley was talking to their father.
"Okay, Marley says that's fine. You can meet her dad after school tomorrow," Marley simply said, walking out of the bedroom closing the door behind her.
Killua was a single father. Ava didn't like the fact that she only had one parent. She was jealous of all the other families, the ones who had two parents in their lives. But, she never knew why she was only had one parental figure. Killua didn't want her to know. He didn't know how she'd take it.
Killua had always wondered what he'd done that caused a sort of bad vibe to watch over Killua and Ava when they spoke to each other. Almost as if she despised him, but still loved being in his presence.
Maybe it was the fact that he was overprotective. He wasn't extremely overprotective, like, he didn't hover over her and monitor everything she did. Of course, she could live her life the way she wanted to, he just suggested that she ask him before she did certain things.
He didn't want her having a child under the same condition he did. A better way to put it would be the way he had one. Depression and agony could be the prime initiators for the mistake Killua made. The one that brought on the miracle he calls his daughter. The one who only mostly comes to him when she wants to know something or needs something. But, Killua doesn't mind. He's always been a pretty isolated person.
He didn't like being in the presence of lots of people, not unless there was someone with him he felt comfortable with.
Killua sighed, he never thought raising a child
on his own would be so difficult. Especially, when he had never even planned on having a child. At least, not with the person he had Ava with.Killua unlocked his phone and went back to scrolling through social media. Nothing interested him, like always. Just random posts and memes. He'd giggle or chuckle at some of them for a few seconds, then after that, it was like whatever it was never existed.
After about an hour of just sitting in his bedroom, wallowing in his thoughts, he decided to get
up and go make dinner. He sighed heavily as he walked out of his bedroom, scratching his head, thinking about what to cook.
He decided he would make some rice and chicken. One of his many favorites growing up and the easiest thing to make at the moment since he was so tired.
He put some rice and water in a small pot and placed it on the stove, waiting for the water to boil, indicating that the rice was done. He would still check to make sure, even if the water hadn't started boiling yet. He was just extremely cautious.
While the rice was cooking, Killua seasons the thawed out chicken. He was really big on spicy things, as well as Ava, so he made sure that the chicken had an overly decent amount of seasons. Spicy seasons were a let down if they were the only ones on a dish, but spicy seasoning were always superior, they made the dish the best it could be.
