Chapter 16
It had been more than a week since I last dreamt of Alex, last thought of him, last stole glances at him and last felt the fluttering in my stomach because of him.
Lies, all goddamn lies.
But it was the truth that it has been a week since I had last cried for Alex Rider.
Alex Rider.
I sighed deeply as I walked down the pavement down from Amanda’s house. I had a sleepover at Amanda’s house yesterday.
It was the last day of school before summer holidays yesterday. Lastday of the hellhole that I had been experiencing for the last few days. There still was the same and very familiar excitement to see Alex but it had deemed down a lot, since I came to know that he had wanted nothing but to destroy me, piece by piece. Tear out my heart from my chest in the worst way possible and do a stampede on it.
Because that was what it had felt like.
But the heart was the most strongest organ of our body.
Mine was still beating, stiched and bruised, but it was still there, doing a warning signal when ever people like Alex Rider entered anywhere near it.
I still don’t understand who Alex Rider is.
Either an actor or a liar.
Or maybe both.
And to think I went against my friends for him.
“ He’s a brilliant actor.” Amanda had said when we were alone in her pink-walled room. It looked as if someone had vomitted pink all over the room, but for the first time, the colour didn’t bother me much, because of the company that I had got.
Rick had called me yesterday, he was supposed to come and pick me up yesterday, but my dear cousin desperately needed something so he had to postpond it.
Honestly, I preferred Amanda and her fully pink room to my demented family.
My minimal luggage was still there, in Amanda’s room after being spray painted by her siblings. A few of my clothes lay on her bed which I had yet to fold and put in my siutcase.
My nails were painted a sparkling blue and I was in dark blue jeans and sparkly top with my hair in a french braid.
Needless to say, it was Mrs. Brown who made me wear like a normal girl.
Like mother, like daughter.
I looked around my surrounding, the industrial suburb being extremely familiar as I passed several construction sites. The redeveloped area, with blocks of undeveloped prestige flats rising up to bruise the London skyline was indeed a sight to see. It was nothing more than an ugly skeleton of steel grinders and prefabricated concrete slabs. I passed several men with hard hats, in groups and alone. I bumped shoulder with several of them and as they looked back to glare at me, I quickened my pace, seeming to get the hell away from there.
The familiar Victorian style house came to my line of vision and a seeming urge to go there overcame me.
I desperately needed some peace, after what happened in the last few days and what was in store for the next few, made me carve for some alone time, to gather my thoughts.
I was on the pavement in front of the decapitiated house when my eyes fell on something and I froze.
A familiar head of dirty blond messy hair was one which I saw first. Next came the lean and tall figure, adorned in a white shirt and faded jeans, that I had grown to be familiar to. He walked down to the massive building site.
