Chapter 8
"Alex Rider?"
I shivered as the name rolled off my tongue. Alex's dark and earnest stare added with the sudden electricity flowing through the air was enough for me to feel queasy. As my head revolved and my eyesight became blurred, the only thing that revolved around my head was the fact that Alex was much closer now, much more closer than before. So close that I could smell his minty breath and feel his warm breath on my forehead. So close that I could see the small green specs in his blue orbs and the fact that his eyelashes were longer than mine.
"Brooke?"
I felt two warm arms envelope my small frame as I lost my balance. Alex Rider's arms were the only thing that was holding my frame from falling and I couldn't help but grasp his white shirt and feel the warm strong skin underneath it.
" Hmm?" I felt like a drunk as I stared into Alex's hypnotizing eyes. Eyes that can drag you to hell and bring you to heaven.
Alex laughed loudly and I couldn't help but jerk backwards from the sound. His head had rolled back behind and his manly and sexy laughter filled the corridor of Brooke land High. But the most beautiful thing was the single dimple on his left cheek.
I felt as if someone has taken away my breath.
Alex Rider was already a sinfully handsome man and his laughter made him devastatingly so. It was not fair to the kinds of me.
"Let's go." His velvety voice was suddenly behind me and I turned back to see him standing by the entrance, an amused smile on his face.
And as he laughed again, my face couldn't be less red than a tomato.
I slowly walked towards the greek god, feeling like the ugly duckling beside the gorgeous swan.
My hair had fallen all over my face and was even more unruly than before. My cheeks were red, too red to consider normal and my steps were uncoordinated. They made an annoying sound and even though I tried to walk more graceful, they were even sounder. With my eyes on my feet and my hair shielding half of my face, I felt as if nothing went normal with me whenever I was around Alex. My brain went in a haywire and my body worked exactly the way my brain instructs it not too. I become a nervous patient around him.
All this in just a few days. Alex Rider means harm to my health and addiction to my heart.
My eyes met Alex's as I was passing him and I immediately wished I hadn't. They were already looking at me, his blue orbs into my dull brown ones and the same reaction happened. Heart beat faster, cheeks became redder and I became a nervous fit.
As if realizing the desperate state I was going to reach, he stepped back and motioned his hand towards the gate. And the same old I, red and embarrassed, walked through the door and down the steps, taking pleasure in hearing his light footsteps.
He must do ballet or something, if his steps are so light.
The cool air of the outside world hit me hard and I immediately breathed it in. Oh! How much I missed this air when I was in the office. A few strands of hair hit my face and I was going to put them behind my hair.
"Don't. It looks better that way."
Alex's voice had stopped my hand, only his voices can elicitate such a reaction out of me. The mighty Rider, is he a magician?
"As you say." I wanted to sound as if his words had no effect on me. But damn my voice for betraying me.
He was smirking when I looked at him and a sudden thought entered my mind. Why doesn't he smile more often?
