𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞.𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 nights Aaron stayed up, watching Averie breath, his fingertips tracing the more noticeable bump on her stomach, sometimes he'd receive kicks in response or he could feel their child hiccuping, how Averie could sleep through it he'd never know, "Aar', if your refusing to sleep you could at least fetch me some mint chocolate cookies" She mumbled, not even bothering to open her eyes.
"It's 3AM, sweetness" Aaron chuckled, pressing his lips to her forehead in a gentle kiss, she moved slightly, bringing the older agent closer to her.
"Your not sleeping, our baby wants cookies and I'm blaming you for her nocturnal tendencies" Averie muttered against his neck, "Did you have a nightmare?"
He continued to trace small circles on her bump, "No, did you?", Aaron could feel Averie shake her head, pressing a peck to his skin, "I adore you, Averie Hotchner" He whispered.
"You know I'm not mad don't you?" She asked, running gentle fingers through his short hair, "It was a high trauma situation, it was too similar to Foyet, your brain-"
"I shouldn't have said it, Averie" His words are cold, brash as he stops massaging her bump, "You were collapsed in blood, our girl could've died, you could've died and I said her name"
Averie sighed, moving to turn on the light, Aaron sat up more, not surprised when Averie made herself comfortable on his lap, "Now I'm mad, because you made me move" She gives a small smile, "Aar', the only person who's mad at you for saying her name is you" She re-assured, finger tips playing with his short hair.
"It's been six weeks, Aaron, you need to forgive yourself, please" Averie chewed at her bottom lip, lifting his hands into her own and placing them on her bum, "If not for me, for our little girl, Aaron, please"
He doesn't want to look at Averie, tears in his eyes threatening to spill as he takes a shaky breath, "I don't know how to make it up to you, it's in-excusable, Averie" Aaron laid his head on her shoulder, as she stroked his hair in soft motions.
"Aaron Hotchner, I am giving you forgiveness in every sense of the word, I love you, you didn't do anything wrong my love" Averie sighed, leaning down to kiss the top of his head, "What do you need from me?" She spoke in hushed words.
"How can I make it up to you?"
He dared to look up at her, a few stray tears falling down his face, but his hands stayed on her bump, not caring to wipe the tears away, "Okay, make it up to me, prove that it's me you love and not her anymore" He knew she didn't mean any of those words, but he was all ears, "Let's get married this week, wether it's the courthouse, our house, hell, I'll get married at the BAU, just, just make me your wife"
Aaron nodded his head, leaning up to capture her lips in his own, "Then let's get married, my sweet girl" He whispered against her lips, "Let's get married"
It seemed to help Aaron calm down, and soon Averie was fast asleep at his side, head on her shoulder as slept, whilst more relaxed Aaron still couldn't sleep, but he's smiling at the small kicks of his child against his hand, "You, missy, should be sleeping too" He spoke, laying in awe at the small movements.
Averie awoke at Aaron's alarm, she was grumbling, complaining, her middle finger sticking up in his direction, "Your going to be late for the academy" Aaron spoke, taking a sip from his coffee mug.
"You best not be drinking coffee" She grumbled, sighing once again before pushing herself off their large bed, "If I can't drink coffee, either can you" Averie gave him a pointed look, taking the mug and bringing it to the bathroom sink, watching it slip down the drain.
