The Young Princess

Chapter 5

Before I knew it, I was rushed out of my room and into the same room I first met Zanthis in, but this time, for a different reason. Lovely had stayed behind, afraid of showing herself to Zanthis, but Georgina calmly, but quickly, walked me down to where Zanthis was. Georgina and I walked into the room, interrupting and argument between Zanthis and a young boy who was dressed like a royal, but I had never seen him before. When they heard us walk through the door they both stopped and looked at us.

"Finally! I have been waiting for ten minutes!" cried Zanthis, clearly agitated from both me being late and the argument he was having with the boy.

"I'm am so sorry Zanthis, I was talking to Georgina and-" I started but was cut off by Zanthis holding up his hand, inclining that he didn't want to hear it.

"I don't care why you were late, I only care that you were late. I especially care because this was not in my schedule today so I can't just wait around. I have other much more important matters to get to but, since you are my cousin, I must speak to you about some things." said Zanthis.

"Yes sir." I said, looking down at my hands.

"Now, I see you have met Georgina, your hand maid." I nod as he says this. "And I would also like you to meet by adopted son, Xavier," I looked at the young boy in semi-shock, I would never have thought that Zanthis would ever have children. The boy looked at me and gave me a smirk, I just looked away from him and looked back at Zanthis. I didn't know what to say so all I said was

"Ah, I see"

I mentally hit myself for saying that.

"Why couldn't I have said something better??" I asked myself. The boy then walked over to Zanthis and whispered something in his ear. Zanthis smiled slightly and started to nod his head up and down. He then whispered something back to Xavier and he just looked up at me and stared, I could tell he was trying to suppress showing shock. I looked over at Georgina and she just smiled a fake smile and I looked back at Zanthis and Xavier. As soon as I looked back they finished their whisper conversation and looked back at me. 

"Now, Dani," started Zanthis "I have to tell you a few rules you must follow."

"Ok, I'm listening." I said, getting a little anxious.

"One, you must be at breakfast at seven AM sharp, lunch at noon, and dinner at 8 PM sharp. Two, you must always wear black and navy blue dresses, and no other colors. Three, no exploring passed certain areas that are marked. Four, make sure that you are at your lessons exactly on time, not early, not late. And Five, make sure that you act like a princess and not that orphan thief that you were once were. Got it?" said Zanthis, staring at me blankly. Xavier just smirked the whole time. I bet he could do whatever he wanted and was spoiled so he thought it was funny to see his cousin have all these rules when he didn't have any.

"Yes sir. I'll do my best." I said with a smile. And with that, Zanthis whipped is hands to tell us to leave him and we left, with Xavier close behind us.

When the doors closed behind us and we were out of hearing range from the guards outside the doors, Xavier called for us to stop. I turned around to see him only a few feet away from me and Georgina.

"What?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips.

"I just wanted to tell you that you need to be careful," He said. I cocked my head to the side,

"And why is that?" I asked, curious.

"Because, my dad is the king and he can do as he pleases." Xavier says, taking a step closer.

"And why is that a big deal?" I asked, even more curious.

"Um, I'm going to let you two talk," said Georgina. I jumped, I forgot she was there, I turned slightly around and nodded my head for her to go. She then spun around and almost broke out into a run, but she didn't. I turned around to see the Xavier had moved up so they there was about a foot in between us. I took a step back in surprise.

"So, why is it a big deal?'' I asked Xavier again.

"Because, my dad doesn't like you, your a threat to him, he was the one who was supposed to take over but,"

"Ya, ya, Georgina told me the story, I came in the picture so Zanthis got mad and conjured the kingdom and killed both my parents." I said blankly to him. He stared at me for a few seconds and I took another step back.

"So, um, I need to go, um, ju-just be careful." said Xavier, also stepping back, but at a quicker pace, then be turned around and broke into a pretty fast jog.
