One Week Prior:
Derek was one of those people that, no matter how he went to bed or how fitfully he slept, he could wake up and look like a Greek god every time. This morning was no different and when his alarm went off precisely at 6 am he sat up, stretching until his joints popped deliciously. He rolled his shoulders and then his neck before getting out of bed and changing into shorts. He then put on tennis shoes, grabbed an arm band in which he secured his phone, put in Air Pods and headed outside for his daily morning run.
It was routine for him to run for at least a half hour every morning and so that's what he did. He ran because it helped clear his mind, made his wolf happy and kept him in shape. Not that he necessarily needed to be in better shape, considering he was most likely going to have a statue of himself one day in a museum with a plaque that said: Most Perfect Specimen to Ever Exist.
When the half hour was up, Derek ran back to his loft and headed directly to the kitchen where he downed two Gatorades before heading to the shower. He wasn't one to take long luxurious showers. He didn't see the point of them. So, he was quickly headed back to his bedroom with a towel wrapped tight around his waist. He opened his closet and pulled out a pair of black dress pants, and a white button up shirt. The man grabbed a tie from his dresser drawer and a pair of dress shoes from the shoe rack. He then got dressed and last but not least he put on a Rolex watch and a suit jacket that he buttoned up.
This was his daily work attire whether he liked it or not. He knew he looked good and of course the boss had to look good and even though he'd look good in whatever he wore, this was the example he chose to set.
Once he was dressed, he grabbed his keys, phone, wallet and made sure to lock up before heading to his beloved Camaro. He got in and started the car before speeding towards Alpha Yours.
It had been part of the promise he made to his mother. He made a promise to her that he would help the omegas and alphas, the ones who needed a little extra help to find their mates. She would always say that everyone deserved to find that special person with whom they could have that special bond. She tried to tell Derek that he should keep in mind that he too deserved that, but Derek would always brush it off and then when he lost his mother, he told himself he definitely didn't deserve a mate.

Derek was grateful for the parking garage he had had the construction team include in the architectural design. It was easier for him to avoid prying eyes when he arrived rather than having to enter through the lobby. He parked in his usual spot and less than ten minutes later, thanks to a very conveniently and purposefully placed elevator, he was in his office on the top floor. He sat down at his desk and got to work on the items that were on his agenda for the day.
Around noon when he would normally be leaving for lunch, he heard a knock on his door and briefly looked up. "Come in."
A young woman came in and smiled. "Sorry to bother you, Mr. Hale."
Derek had specifically asked for a female secretary rather than a male secretary and thus far had been pleased with Maddie. He offered her a smile. "Don't be sorry. What can I help you with?"
She walked up to one of the chairs and took a seat, crossing her legs and getting comfortable. "Well sir we are finishing up the search for alpha candidates for our newest omega application."
Derek nodded and tilted his head, glancing at his papers before fixing her with a raised eyebrow and curious gaze. "I see. Well, that's good, isn't it? You usually don't come to me about these applications unless we have to flat out refuse them."
She cleared her throat and to Derek's surprise, she looked nervous but then again, he made a lot of people nervous for various reasons. "Yes sir. I'm aware but you see the reason I'm bringing it to your attention is because, well, after going over the application, it seems that there are three alphas which fit the criteria to be a mate to this particular omega. One of them has said no and one has said yes."
