POV: Stiles
Stiles was shaken up by everything that had happened with Alpha Ryan and now he felt so lost. He woke up screaming from nightmares every single night, sometimes multiple times a night. His dad would run into his room and rock him back and forth to comfort him. Stiles hated how fragile, weak and small he felt now. He kept telling himself that his alpha would come for him, that his alpha would protect him but that never happened.
So, when Stiles went back to campus, he pushed any ideas about ever finding an alpha out of his mind. He didn't need an alpha anyways, especially not one who wouldn't make sure he was okay. At least, that was what he kept telling Scott and Allison when they would ask, but Lydia knew, and she knew that he knew that she knew, but she said nothing.
Stiles headed home one night after a particularly long lecture and decided to go for a run. He was grateful that this time his running was recreational. He wasn't paying any particular attention to where he was running and only felt a vague sense of needing to be somewhere. He stopped when he found himself face to face with the preserve and tilted his head in confusion as the words: mate needs comfort echoed in his mind.
Stiles shook his head as if to clear it of such ridiculous notions. He did not have a mate and he did not have an alpha. Stiles turned to leave, blissfully unaware of the red eyes that watched him from the shadow of a tree as he headed back the way he came.
It wasn't until Stiles had showered and started on his homework that he felt that tug again and the fear that shot through him at what it could mean, sent him into a panic attack. He knew what it was even though he didn't want it to be true and felt it to his core the words falling from his mouth in an awed whisper, "Soul bond."
Stiles didn't sleep that night, too afraid he would have the worst nightmare ever and that Alpha Ryan would take what he wanted. Stiles must've fallen asleep at some point though. He woke up with a scream tearing its way out of his throat.
Lydia was by his side instantly since she had started staying in his apartment after everything that happened at Alpha Yours. "Stiles? Shh. I'm here. Shh."
Stiles melted into her arms, his fear fading only slightly as he decided he needed to go to Alpha Yours first thing in the morning.
He got up, got dressed and hurried to his destination, just needing to get it over with. His amber eyes looked up at the building with a gulp as he remembered coming there the first time. He had been nervous that night but had hoped he would find the one. He was a fool and now he had a bond he didn't want.
Stiles's heart fluttered and raced slightly in his chest as he began wondering whether or not the gorgeous angry man would be at the desk again. For some reason that Stiles couldn't put his finger on, his gaze fell to where he had curled up in front of the building. A memory flashed in his mind too quick for him to comprehend and was gone as quick as it came but the smell of burning birchwood hung faintly in the air as he went inside.

POV: Derek
Derek was a mess, and he hadn't gone anywhere except the preserve when he needed to just shift and run. He had gotten so lost in the feeling of being fully shifted that he didn't notice Stiles's presence until he saw the omega staring out at the field with a confused look on his face. Derek was just as confused as the omega was, but he stayed hidden until Stiles left.
After that, Derek pretty much never left his office. It was a comfort to him, and it still smelled like Stiles. The scent was the only thing keeping him sane.
Erica had tried to get Derek to talk to her, but he refused and simply asked her to keep him updated on the course of action they'd be taking towards Alpha Ryan. He then headed downstairs to the front desk to retrieve some paperwork. Suddenly, the scent that haunted his dreams, that coated his office hit him, and he looked up to see Stiles himself walking inside.
