exploring

cynthia had nothing else to do with her time in a new city other than explore. first up was learning the neighborhood.

"wheres my bike?" she ran downstairs, her glasses clipped to her white shirt.

her father glared at her and sighed.

"look in the garage." he sent her off quickly into the garage.

she ran in and found her bike, opening the garage and rushing out with her helmet and phone. she ran out at the same time as rodrick who was getting ready to leave.

"hey! sleeping beauty!" he yelled at her, her head turning to see him smiling and waving.

she groaned and sat the bike up on its stand, walking towards him. she took the glasses off and looked him up and down, her eyes mainly focused on the hair.

"what ronald?" she gave him a nickname as well.

he rolled his eyes at the name and pointed at the bike standing.

"you goin out?" he asked, looking back at her.

"yeah, why?" cynthia raised an eyebrow.

he choked on his words for a moment but pushed them out.

"well... what for?" he asked, for some reason nervous.

she scoffed and crossed her arms.

"i need to learn my way around the neighborhood, dont i?"

he looked to the sky and nodded, looking back down at her. she shook away the smile beginning to form.

"well, why dont i come with you? we dont need you getting lost now, do we?" he teased and crossed his arms to mimic her.

she smiled and rolled her eyes again, accepting the offer and waiting for him at her bike. he dragged his own from some place and walked back to her. they began to ride around the neighborhood, asking stupid questions about eachother and throwing an insult at the answers.

"what school are you goin to?"

"same one as you, sadly." he frowned and acted sad that she was going to attend the same one.

he didnt think about his question and the words just slipped through.

"you got a boyfriend?" her eyes widened but he couldnt see past the glasses while her cheeks flushed.

he realized what he said and remained silent, still wanting to know.

"i do not... why heffley? you got a girlfriend?"

"not quite yet." he frowned in her direction and she smiled.

they got along well, they could feel feelings already slowly form but tried to act like the flirting was just a joke. neither of them seemed like eachothers type. she was a blonde rich girl from california who could probably get anyone she wanted. he was a drummer who played with the 'loded diper' in the garage. they continued silently, thinking things through.

"so... what do you do in your band?" she asked, trying to act like the last question didnt happen.

"i play the drums." he tried the same but couldnt keep it off of his mind.

she nodded and smiled.

"why?"

"i used to be in a band." she confessed something she hated about her past.

he laughed and shook his head.

"no way."

she laughed with him, her cheeks turning a bright red.
