Our Future Kids (percico fanfiction)

CHAPTER 16

One week after the big talk with Percy's future kids, there was another talk between the two groups from different times.
They all decided to meet down by the beach again. So one by one or in their own little groups, they made their way down to the beach.

First it was Jason and Piper, then Leo and Hazel. Charles, Luke, Helena and Ball all came together next. Then Joe and Jamie. Followed finally by Percy, Nicole and Annabeth.

Once they were all gathered around, they went straight into the topic of their meeting.

"I know it's been a while since we arrived here in the past. And I'm sure we all had fun with the teenage versions of our parents. But you all know that we are not from this time." Helena said.

Luke nods in agreement, "The longer we stay here, we risk endangering the events from our time."
"What does that mean?" Piper asked. "It means we have to go home." Joe stated.
"Home?" Jason repeated, it was a question.
Val nods and she shared a sad look with her friends, "We have to go back to our time."

Everyone was silent as they absorbed that truth.

The present teens didn't want them (the future teens) to go back to their time, they still wanted to learn a lot more about their future.

But they also knew that Luke was right, the longer they 'did' stay in the wrong timeline, the possibility of the future changing could be very high.

Percy sucked on a shaky breath. He knew this day would come, knew that his future kids would eventually have to go back to their own time. But knowing that didn't mean he was prepared for it.
It would have been easier if they just came and left.

Only that didn't happen, they came, stayed for almost a month and now had to leave.

Percy was actually saddened by that.

All the present teens were, they hadn't expected to get close to the future teens, but they had, and now it would be hard to say goodbye.

Annabeth let out a shaky breath, "How can we help?" The future teens smiled at her.

Helena and Jamie then assigned a task for everyone to do.

Leo and Annabeth assisted Helena and Jamie in the Hephasteus bunker as they went through the blueprint of the time machine, suggesting adjustments where they thought were needed.

Percy, Will and the Jackson kids went to collect the parts for the machine they found earlier from Percy's cabin.

Hazel and Piper went to the Athena cabin looking for books on machinery, then headed back to the Hephasteus cabin to confirm what was written in the books.

Nico and Jason went with Val and Joe to see if they could find any more machine parts around camp and by the beach.

Nico watched Val walk down the beach with Joe, picking up pieces of what they thought could be useful for the time traveling machine according to Jamie's very vague description of them, and throwing away what they deemed useless.

Jason sighs from beside Nico causing the teen to look at him, "I'm really gonna miss them." Nico allows himself a small smile, although it's a very sad one, "We all are."
"D'you think our future selves are looking for ways to get them back?" Jason posed a question. Nico doesn't hesitate to answer, "Without a doubt." That ends the discussion for now.

After a while Nico stops his search to watch Val and Joe, "They're really close." he observes.
Jason chuckles, "They're best friends, what did you expect?" Nico narrowed his eyes and walked quicker to catch up to the two future kids. Jason followed, curious about what Nico wanted to do.

"Joe." Nico began.
"Yeah?" Joe paused and Val turned to see what Nico wanted.
"How old are you again?" asked Nico. "Fourteen." Joe answered.
Val was now curious, "Pa, what are you up to?"

Nico stilled, his mission to interrogate Joe temporarily forgotten because his daughter called him 'Pa'.

Nico smiled, it felt nice, despite being a little weird, that his future daughter acknowledged him as that. He wished she would always call him that, everyday.. as long as she was there at least.

"Nico?" Jason pat on Nico's shoulder and Nico snapped back to the present moment.

Nico looked between Val and Joe, "Are you guys dating?"

Joe started choking on air itself, Val threw Joe a disgusted look, Jason looked amused at their reaction and Nico was still waiting for their answer.

"Eww! Pa no! We're not dating!" Val replied still sporting that disgusted look.

Joe stopped choking on air and gulped down a deep breath, "We're just friends. Best friends!"

Nico just nods, but didn't seem to believe them.
Jason chuckled again, "Leave the kids alone Nico!"

Nico looked at Jason shocked. Never did he think he would hear those words from him at such a young age.
Jason now also looked like he couldn't believe what he just said.

But they didn't have long to contemplate their thoughts and say something because in that second a bright light flashed. All four teens turned away from the light and covered their faces.

Once the light dimmed down, four men roughly in their 30's stood there. What was weird about them is that they kind of looked similar. "Did we make it?" The only blonde man asked the other men. "I think so." The latino man with  dark curly hair replied.

"Who are you?" Jason demanded. The four men turned to face them.

Val's eyes widened in shock and realization, "Papa!" she screeched happily running towards one of the men.
"Val!" The men said engulfing the girl in a tight hug.

"Dad!" Joe ran to the blonde man who also hugged him tightly. "Joe."

Suddenly Jason and Nico understood. They both knew who those men were.

The man Val hugged was future Nico and the man Joe hugged was future Jason.

That meant the man looking down at future Nico and Val was future Percy, and the Latino man was future Leo.

They were here. The future teens 'actual' parents were here to take them back to their time.

Nico was certain he was supposed to feel relieved, but he didn't, he wasn't angry as well... Just sad, and numb from all the other emotions he was also apparently feeling at this moment.. and he didn't like it.
