Take My Hand

January 13, 2011

===N===Juliane's POV===N===

P. E class at 3 PM. Miss Teves assembled all the 4th year students in our schoolyard for an announcement. I think it's about the J.S Prom.

Miss Teves said, "Seniors so we have a final date for your Prom. It's gonna be on February 24th. Of course, you know my P.E requirement. Since all of you have signed up, we're gonna have a cotillion dance. On the count 1 to 10, you have to find a partner. It will be Girl and a Boy. Ok... One Two.."

And she begins to count. As expected no one wants to be partnered with me. My gay sister was taken by two of my friends. He chooses my other friend. When someone is undecided, Miss Teves forces them to find one.

I asked my guy classmates and fellow seniors but as I attempted they already have one. Then, I was the only one left who didn't have one. As expected.

Nah! If that's the case I won't attend the prom then.

===O===Mel Sydney's POV===O===

I was crossing the quadrangle after my class when Miss Teves called me.

"Sir Ocampo, can you join us for a moment here?" I saw the senior students lining up with their partners. It's for their senior prom maybe?

I approached Miss Teves and I saw the only girl who was not lining up. I was puzzled by her.

Miss Teves said, "Sir Ocampo, do you have class after this?"

"No miss I'm just gonna do some paperwork in the Faculty room," I replied

"Can you spare us 30 Minutes?" Miss Teves asked.

I answered, "Sure miss. What is it?"

"Are you gonna attend the J.S Prom Sir?"

Why is she asking this?

"It depends Miss. I don't have any schedule on that day though." I replied.

Miss Teves replied, "Good. You see our girl here doesn't have a partner in the cotillion for the prom. And it's compulsory for us. The Juniors are already filled. I can't also take one of them to partner with Miss Nuevo.

Since you're the youngest in the teacher and have no girlfriend, would you accompany Juliane to the prom? Just in the cotillion sir. It's just for her grades."

What did I just hear? Dance? Prom?

"Do you mean I'm gonna be her dance partner?" I asked Miss Teves.

Miss Teves replied, "Uhuh."

Oh boy. I don't know how to dance. Second, it's hard to say no to Miss Teves.

Yet, I don't want Juliane to be left out.

With a lump on my throat, I said, "If it's ok with Juliane miss I'm good."

Oh, boy teacher responsibilities.

===N===Juliane's POV===N===

I was called by Miss Teves as expected. My batchmates lined up with their partners. Miss Teves is in front near the flagpole.

"Juliane, so you don't have any partner?" She asked.

"Nope mam," I responded

She checked her attendance and she said, "Looks like we ran out of boys."
