Nick

"How many minutes ...or hours left?"

"Umm?" I look at my gold-covered pocket watch with lots of gadgets and wizards. Even I haven't grown accustomed to the interface. It was a gift from the first Santa Claus.
I struggled to give her a definitive answer.

"Oh, I forgot you guys don't have time in the Pole" Wynter sighs and leans toward the hood of the sleigh to see if we were any closer. Her beautiful lips mold into a pout but still focus on the air in front of us.

I loved Wynter's little quips like forgetting about my magic or asking me for time. She would get accustomed to our way of life once she resided in the Pole.

She fidgeted a little more before pulling the pocket watch from my pocket. She tried to decipher a time but gave up instantly.

"I know the council is already assembled in the west wing of our palace. They're waiting for me to hand over my title."

"But you're super late? Would the council still wait for you?"

I smile and look into Wynter's brown eyes. "I'm late for everything. If the council waited for me in every situation, I would be as old as my father"

Wynter smirks and shakes her head disapprovingly.
"But isn't Jack supposed to have a wife and be married? Just because it's not you, doesn't mean the qualifications should differ?" She says, pushing the watch back into my pocket.

"I assume he does."

"Who would be so desperate to marry Jack Frost" Drew pretended to barf. Wynter giggles and looks back at me. I shrug, not eager to even try and guess. I felt pity for whoever the poor girl was.

"Ohh! I see the marker!" Wynter points to the post that marked the Pole; she was eager to interrupt the meeting.

Wynter

"Common Jingle!" I shout, quickly freeing him from his reigns. He happily ninnies and runs behind Drew, Nick, and me.

We run through the castle, sliding through the tiled floor, trying to stop Jack Frost from gaining the title.

Nick held my hand in his warm palm, leading me to the room where the council resided.
It was five turns then another two before we reached the big wooden doors of the room.

Nick and I stopped. He looks at me and frowns. "Wyn...are you sure?"

I looked into his eyes, squeezing his palm in reassurance. "Positive" I smirk before kissing his lips. We hug before separating. My mind was made up and he knew there was no turning back.

Nick

"Wait!!"

Wynter, Drew, Jingles, and I barge in, instantly halting the meeting.

I observe the state of the room and the different members that make up the council. The Tooth Fairy was there looking as regal as ever. Then there was the Easter bunny, Father Time who attended Wynter's and I's sham engagement party, The Ice Queen, and finally, Mother Nature. Her glare was lethal.

"Nick what is the meaning of this!" The Ice Queen says, glaring at me before frowning. We had bad blood after all.

"I know I have already abdicated my title but after careful consideration, I have changed my mind."

"You think rules don't apply to you?" The Ice Queen screamed.
"The period to state your resignation is over." Father Time Quickly followed.
"The tile has been transferred to Jack Frost." The Easter bunny points to the couple just past us.

Samantha stands beside Jack fuming as she saw us enter. So she was the poor woman? It was funny seeing how desperate she always was for a title.

"The title hasn't been transférés yet" Wynter chimes.
It's not 12am or December 25th? Correct?"

"Correct" Mother Nature finally spoke. She looked at Wynter with eager curiosity. Wynter steps a bit forward and faces the semicircle where the council was seated.

"With all due respect, the rules of the land states that Nick must find a fiancé" Wynter continues.

"Which he doesn't have!" Jack interjected.

"He does." Wynter held up her finger, showing off the ring I gave her.

"Not a pretend fiancé." Samantha cursed.

"It's not pretending. This time, it's real" Wynter's eyes shined with pride as she turned back to look at me.

"Then you wouldn't mind getting married right now? In front of the council? And us? For the whole world to see?" Jack smiled. He thought Wynter would have refused but Wynter and I were in love. She was more than ready to be Mrs. Claus.

"I would not mind at all" she smiled, winking at Jack. He blushed but looked away.

"You must be married before December 25th. There are only a few short moments before the clock brings in the new day" Father Time pulls out his hearty pocket watch and shows it off.

"I am an officiant. I will marry them." A tall man with an even jollier spirit came from the forefront of the room.
He stepped into the light and instantly I knew who it was. It was my father's father. Santa Claus the 7th.
I guess he had come to visit the Pole upon hearing the recent development of the title. I guess a lot of people weren't too keen on transferring the power over to Jack Frost.

"Uncle Vlad. Good to see you" I smile. He waved at me and Drew before smiling at Wynter.

Wynter walked beside me and nodded. "I'm ready. Nick?"

"I am too" I smiled, staring into her eyes. I was ready to spend the rest of my life with Wyn.

"Not so fast Wynter Rider" Mother Nature stood from her chair and crossed her arms.

"The council must approve of the potential Mrs. Claus. We have not considered you as a choice since Nick took his name out of the running for the title"

"I understand" Wynter whispers, holding my arm.

"But, I will grant an exception for this is an important decision." She looked at me then at Wynter again.

" I have one question for you Wynter. This question Wynter is not one that can be found in a book or an encyclopedia. Only in the heart."

Wynter nodded understanding her words.

"What is the true meaning of Christmas?"

What?
That was it? That was the question?

I celebrate a little prematurely as I look back at Drew. He smiled and gave me a thumbs up.
That was an easy answer!
The true meaning of Christmas was one that had no meaning at all. It was individually wrapped for each person.

Wynter had been studying the scrolls and rules of the land. Surely this question would be easy.

But my heart sinks as I remember an important fact about Wyn.
She never celebrated Christmas.

"And if awarded the title of Mrs. Claus, how would you demonstrate your true meaning of Christmas?"

Wynter grabbed my palm, her nerves finally settling in. She looked into my eyes, fearful of the future ahead.
