Chapter 4 - The Afton House

After what seemed like forever, you finally pulled back into the driveway of Michaels house.

The four of you got out of the car and William unlocked the front door. The second he opened it, Liz ran in William following behind them with CC.

The first thing you noticed was that Michael was right, his house was pretty dark. Sure there was plenty of lights on in the house and lighting from windows but the walls and everything was just...dark and everything just had a dark feeling. There was no plants or paintings, nothing but one picture of what you assumed was Michaels family hanging in the kitchen since you weren't in the kitchen just yet.

Liz ran right up to her room and William brought CC to his room and put him in his crib. and Michael gave you a house tour. The living room was huge and had a big leather dark brown couch, the walls had a floral print but the flowers were a darker yellow and brown, also the floor in the living room was a dark wood. The kitchen had dark wood cabinets and the floor was a yellowish tile. You passed the picture and saw 5 people in it, but you decided you didn't want to look or ask about it in the moment. The dining room was a dark green and the floor was also a dark wood color. The stairs were carpeted a tan color and that carpet flooring ran throughout the upstairs floor, except the bedrooms. Michaels room was a light blue with a red carpet, Liz's room was a baby pink with a light green carpet, CC's room had white and grey wallpaper and a purplish carpeting. As you were following Michael around his house you thought to yourself.

"Mikey was right, the house is dark. Even though there's some colors it still feels dark."

Michael showed you his room last, which concluded the house tour.

There was drawings, paper, crayons, and pencils all over Michaels room, even some drawings he taped to his wall, but he only had like 3 taped up so you assumed those ones were important.

"I like your room the best"

"Why? Don't you like Liz's since she's a girl and you are a girl?"

"Well yeah Liz's room is really pretty but your room feels the coziest, plus it's yours"

"Uhh okay then- oh wait! I need to show you one more thing but you have to be really quiet"

You just nodded and let Michael lead you to wherever he was going. He brought you back downstairs and stood at the beginning of a strangely long-ish hallway that had a bathroom on one side, a closet on the other, and one door at the very end.

"See that door at the end?" Michael whispered

"Yeah, why?" You whispered back

"That door leads to the basement. My fatha works down there and he says we're not allowed to go down there no matter what, we're not even allowed past the bathroom door, okay?"

Michael had a very serious tone in his voice so you decided to not question anything and to just do what he says.

"Okay."

He quickly but quietly brought you back to his room showing you where to step on the floors that way they wouldn't creak on the way back.

You decided to look closely at the three drawings taped on Michaels wall. One was a drawing of a big dark grey cloud that had rain coming out of it,

"Mikey why do you have a drawing of a big rain cloud taped on your wall?"

"Oh, um I really like the rain. I like listening to it fall and I like to watch it too, especially at night, it makes me feel calm"
