Chapter 6 - the Fourth of July

You were already ready and waiting by the window at 8am waiting for William.

It was a beautiful day outside, the sun was shining and it was about 83° F which is decent for July.

You were very excited to go to Henry's lake house but definitely not excited to get in the car with William.

The car ride was quiet aside from Liz blurting out a thought every now and then, William would tell her to be quiet. You guys pulled up around half an hour later. The house was nice, it was big, decorated for the 4th of July, it had a dock and a huge yard. A decent amount of adults were there but no children your ages. You and Michael were out of the car in a blink of an eye, neither of you wanted to be in the car a second longer than necessary. Liz climbed out and CC tried to but was struggling quite a bit since he was only 2. You went over to the other side of the car to pick him up. Once the doors to the car were closed William drove off without a goodbye.

The four of you now were standing in the driveway watching William drive off down the road, all thinking how strange it was that he didn't say goodbye.

Suddenly Henry came out of the house and made his way over to you guys.

"Hey guys!"

"HI HENRY" Liz yelled, running into his arms. He picked her up and twirled her around in the air while she laughed.

"Did... did your dad leave already?" He said to Michael

"Yeah, he left when we all got out of the car he didn't even say goodbye to us"

"Oh.... Well the party's out in the backyard, there's food and games and you guys can go swim whenever"

"Okay thanks Henry" Michael said

You set CC down and he held your hand, the three of you started walking towards the backyard.

"You gonna go with them? Or do you wanna see a little present I brought for you?" Henry said to Elizabeth

She gasped ,"PRESENT?!"

"Yup! Just for you"

"YES" she squealed

"Alright let's...... GOOO!" Henry said suddenly grabbing Liz and running into the house, she laughed at his actions.

He brought her up to the attic of the house. The attic was nice and finished. The walls had white wallpaper with little red roses all over them and the floors were hardwood. There was a big bay window with a bench that you could sit on. He sat her down on the soft bench.

"Alright you have to close your eyes okay?"

"Okay"

"No peeking"

"I won't" she said giggling

Henry walked over to a chest he had up there and pulled out a small pink music box. The box had a golden rose engraved on the top. and When you opened the box, there was a small little girl with ginger hair and green eyes in a beautiful dress. When you wound the music box, she spun around to a soft relaxing song.

He wound it up and placed the box into Liz's hands, she slowly opened her eyes. She looked down at the box then up at Henry with big eyes.

"Go on, open it" he said softly.

She opened the box and watched in pure amazement as the little girl spun around.

"She looks like me! She's so pretty! Did you make it?"

"I did" he said, placing a hand on her head

"Now go play with the others I'll hold onto the box until it's time for you to go"
