Chapter 17 - The Mall

CW:(( Cursing))

"What do you guys wanna do later?" Jake asks the group. It's finally Friday and you all are in your last period class. "Uhh I dunno" Chris says. The group exchanges looks attempting to figure something out, when Astra nearly jumps out of her seat "OOH! OHH! I KNOW I KNOW!!! HOW BOUT' THE MALL!!" You all look at each other for a moment and give one another a slight nod. "Ohmygod it's gonna be soo fun- Jermey you coming with?" Astra turns -flipping her hair in the process- to ask him. The blond looks up slightly confused "Oh?- uh yeah, sure"

"Damn I didn't think they would invite me- I mean they've only met me at the beginning of the week but hey, I'm not complaining" 

"Perfect! It's settled then. let's meet there at likeeee... 3?"  The group agrees and the bell rings. You and Michael are walking back to your house. It's a pretty nice day out, it's sunny with a nice breeze and there's a few clouds in the sky, which catch your attention. You fall silent as you look up, trying to see what the clouds look like as they change shape. "Hmmm a dog? No a dragon. That ones definitely a rabbit..." Michael looks over at you, wondering why you went quiet for a few minutes. He notices that you're looking up at the sky, with a little smile on your face completely oblivious to the world around you in the moment. This makes him smile too, you just look so peaceful. He knows what you're doing and decides to play the game too. "That one looks like a turtle and a frog combined" he says out of nowhere which makes you burst out laughing, not expecting him to be doing the same as you. You both continue on pointing out what the clouds look like the rest of the way back your house.

"Daddd! We're home!" You yell as you and Michael walk in the front door. "Hey kid! Hey mike!" He says as he walks into the kitchen. You run up to him. "Dad, are you able to drive us to the mall in a bit? We wanted to meet the group there at 3" your father looks at his watch "Ummm- yeah, I can drop you and still make it back in time"

"Back in time for what?"

"Oh well me, Henry and Mikes dad are all going out to get something to eat for a little while". This is something that started happening more often as you and Michael got older. Your dad is a little suspicious of William, but not really anymore, each time he hangs out or talks to the man his suspicions grow less and less of him.

"Oh... okay". You still very clearly remember the day you went to Michaels house for the first time. When William found you looking at the basement door and he grabbed your shoulders. You remember how scared you were and how his grip hurt your little shoulders at the time. To this day you still avoid that man as much as possible, despite him putting on this 'wow I'm such a great guy' act most seem to believe, and your father liking him. You've been friends with Michael for 9 whole years and you've only exchanged a few sentences with him. Usually whenever you go over he gives you this look. He gives you a really strange smile, but there's something about his eyes. It's like they're like cold and emotionless... You decide to push the memories and image of William to the back of your head and go back to Michael, who was waiting for you in your room. "Can he take us?"

"Yup"

"Sweet"

Your dad drops you and Michael off at the mall and you both walk inside, looking around for your friends.
"Mike!! Y/n!!" You both turn to see Astra waving you over to her and everyone else.

You guys all aimlessly walk around for a while. You grab snacks, Slushies, joke around and laugh a little too loudly, you know the normal teenage stuff. "Guys look!" Chris gasps, pointing at an arcade. "We gotta go play!!!" Jermey yells running towards the entrance. The boys all run after him and you go to as well, but someone grips your arm, holding you back. "Nope! You're coming with me" Astra says. "What?? No. I'm playing in the arcade" you try to wiggle your arm out from her grip but she is way stronger than she looks. She giggles as she pulls you away. "What are we even doing? What could possibly be better than playing games in an arcade with everyone"
