Chapter 8 - Sleepover

You woke up at 7am absolutely drenched in your sweat.

"...What..? Why is it so hot?"

Thats when you realized your air conditioner was off. You figured you forgot to turn it on before bed so you got up to turn it on. Thats when you realized the thing wasn't on at all and your lights wouldn't turn on either. You went to go look for your dad.

"Dad?.... Dddaaaadddd"

After looking throughout the house, you finally found him coming back inside from the back door.

"Dad the power's out in my room"

"Yeah, the whole house is out of power, I'm trying to get the generator to work but its being very stubborn, why don't I bring you over to Michael's, I'm willing to bet he has a generator. You can hangout there while I try to fix ours"

"Okay!, but wait- why is the power out?"

"Probably because it's so hot out. We're in a heat wave unfortunately"

"I can tell, I woke up soaked in my sweat" you said while making your way to your room to get ready.

You ate breakfast quick and got ready to leave.

"Ready?"

"Yup!"

Your dad drove to Michaels house and you ran to the front door, not wanting to be in the heat any longer than you needed to. You knocked on the door hoping Michael would be the one to answer.

The door opened to a sleepy looking Michael, his hair was a mess and he had bags under his eyes. Your  attention was more focused on the nice cold air coming from his house rather than him.

"Oh hi n/n"

"Hi Mikey!, um, wanna hangout?"

"Sure-"

"Well hello y/n" William said appearing behind Michael.

"Hello..."

"Here to hangout ?"

"Yeah, I would've called but our power is out from the heat and my dad can't get the generator to work"

"Hmmm is that so? Maybe I could help..."

"Finally a chance to gain the fathers trust."

"Let me go talk to him, you two go on inside."

You went in and Michael led you to his room. William walked over to your dads truck, your dad rolled down his window.

"Mornin' William"

"Morning d/n, I heard you're having generator problems huh?" William said with a slight laugh

"Haha, yeah the damn thing won't start"

"Why don't you let me come over and see what's wrong with it? I am quite skilled at working with machines"

"Well... sure, I don't see why not"

"I guess I'll have a chance to see if there's anything really wrong or strange with this guy."
