'WHAT DO YOU MEAN, IT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE?' I pointed at the lifeless bodies on the floor, my hand shaking uncontrollably. 'AREN'T THEY DEAD?'
'Well, yes, they are, but they weren't your parents.' The man continued calmly. I frowned. Was he for real? I had eyes, man, and I had known my parents longer than he did, so yes: I was fairly certain that the corpses belonged to my mom and dad. Who were these psychos, and why were they so calm?

O my God, would they kill me next?

I resisted the urge to run away before they could do anything to me, too angry to just let them get away with this.
'I think I know my parents better than you do.'
'Not good enough, apparently.' An annoyed looking man mumbled. Sadly for him, my ears worked perfectly fine, and I heard every word he just said.
'Excuse me?'
'What he means,' the calm, tall guy who spoke first said, 'is that these things may look like your parents, but they really - really - aren't.' Seriously?
'So, what? Are you trying to tell me my parents were aliens?' I sarcastically bit back, my arms crossing in front of me. I had no clue where the sudden sass was coming from - especially not while talking to murderers.
'Well, technically they were shifters...' One of the other guys said. Afterwards, he showed me a boxy smile, only to be smacked on the back of his head by the grumpy guy from before.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. They were what now? What on earth was a shifter? What did these guys smoke before they got here? These dudes should be locked up in a mental institution, that was for sure.

'Tell me... How weird did your parents act today?' The calm guy said, still sounding calm. 'Did they do anything weird today? Anything they normally wouldn't do?' I immediately remembered my dad reading for the first time ever, my mother knitting, my parents encouraging me to get fried food and my dad calling me "doll". Still, I wasn't ready to believe anything these creeps were saying.
'People change hobbies all the time. That's not that special.' I shrugged.
'So they did.' The calm guy smiled, showing off a set of beautiful dimples.
'Again, it's not that special. That doesn't make them shiftrys.' A guy with dark hair chuckled, and I think I heard him mumble something about how Shiftry is a Pokemon. As If I cared.
'Shifters - or: shapeshifters - are creatures that have the ability to change their looks in any way they want. We found their lair in the sewers earlier today, and followed their trail here.' Dimple man explained. 'After we found them here, we noticed their eyes glowing on our camera.' He pointed to the guy that had just laughed at me who held up his video camera, smiling.
'I have the footage, if you'd like to see it for yourself.' And get close to them? Absolutely not.
'We wanted to go in earlier, but we saw you get home, which made things a little harder for us.' Did he just basically call me an inconvenience? This man had some nerves. If I wasn't a full head shorter than him, I'd hit him straight on his nose. At least, that's what I told myself I'd do.
'Luckily you left not too long after, before they could harm you.' Harm me? Why would anyone want to harm me? I wasn't that special, and Iliked to believe that I was quite a nice person. I didn't have any enemies either - at least, not that I knew of.

Then, all of a sudden, the shortest boy started tapping Dimple man on his shoulder.

'Namjoon... Hey, Namjoon... We have a situation...' The calm man - who's name was apparently "Namjoon" - quickly turned around, and curious as I was, I tried to see what was so important.

I nearly screamed when I saw my dead mother stand up behind them. The boys seemed less shocked than I was, though, and the grumpy guy just took a big knife out of a bag that was standing on the floor, stabbing her right in her heart. It wasn't until she'd fallen on the floor again, that I realised her hair was no longer the beautiful black it used to be, but had turned bright green instead.

'How... What... H-her hair...'
'As we said: shapeshifter. Not your mommy.' Grumpy said. I decided I didn't like him very much.
'My mom doesn't have green hair.' I quietly spoke, still looking at the green-haired, eh, whatever it was on the floor.
'That's what we've been trying to tell you. This is not your mother.'
'It's a shapeshifter.' I whispered. Namjoon the Dimple King nodded.
'Yes.'
'Shapeshifters are real.' I said a little bit louder, still looking at the corpse of that imposter.
'They are.' Namjoon said.
'What else?' I looked up, looking each of them in their eyes. 'What else is real?'
'A lot of things! There's shapeshifters and wendigos and ghosts and sirens and -' Namjoon stopped the guy with the boxy smile. I just felt lightheaded.
'Maybe she should sit down.' A different guy, who hadn't spoken up before, said, fiddling with a little purse hanging on his pants. Yes, maybe I should.

Sadly, the entire world around me went black before I could, and I passed out.

When I opened my eyes again, I saw the guy with the boxy smile, the shortest guy who had warned Namjoon and another guy who just looked at me with his big doey eyes stare at me. The shortest guy smiled and I saw that one of his teeth was a bit crooked.
Freaking adorable.

'You're awake! Guys, she woke up!' Disoriented, I looked at all three boys around me, before realising I was lying on my couch. I quickly sat up - which I instantly regretted - and looked around me.

The bodies were gone. It was as if nothing had happened.

'How long was I out for?' I looked at the men standing around me. Doe eyes didn't say anything, just looked at his friends, and I couldn't help but wonder if he was just really shy, or if he just couldn't talk.
'About half an hour or so.' Boxy smile said.

Three other boys walked in and I looked at who they were. Dimple man was there, and so was the guy that had laughed at me and last but not least: the guy with the funny, colourful little bag.

Where was Grumpy?

'Are you okay? Can we get her some chocolate, or something?'
'I'm good, I think. Thank you.' I looked at the six of them.
'Sorry, but who are you guys?'
'My name is Kim Namjoon,' Namjoon said, as he showed his pretty dimples off again. 'I'm the leader.'
'Hi, my name is Jin.' The dark haired guy who had laughed at me said. Now that I took a good look at him, I noticed how hot this guy was. His face was gorgeous.
'You can call me Hoseok, or Hope, or Hobi!' The guy with the purse said. I don't know why, but just by looking at him, I knew we'd probably be really good friends if I'd get to know him better.
'My name is Jimin.' The cute but handsome man with the one slightly crooked tooth said. He looked like a fun guy to be around.
'And I'm Taehyung, but everyone calls me V.' Boxy smile said.
'Why V?'
'V for Victory.'
'The only person that calls you V, is you.' Jimin said to Taehyung, who immediately pouted.

My eyes fell on the only guy in the room who hadn't introduced himself yet: the quiet man with the doe eyes.

'My name is Jungkook.' He bowed and smiled politely. He looked pretty muscular to me. Maybe he was more into heavy labour instead of talking. I smiled back at him.
'I thought there was one more? Where is that knife guy?' I had decided that calling him Grumpy in front of these guys might not be the best idea.
'That's Yoongi. He is currently dealing with the bodies of the shifters. He'll be back in about half an hour or so.' Namjoon said.

Okay, so Grumpy, who's name apparently was Yoongi, was doing something with the bodies of my imposter-parents. Noted.

'Where are my real parents?'
'We don't know that yet. We'd hoped to find them in the lair, but they weren't there.' Namjoon stated.
'We'll eventually find them. I promise.' Jimin reassured me, as he sat down on the floor. I let my eyes glide over all of them once more, not saying a word while doing so. It was still hard to believe that all of this was actually happening to me. It wasn't a movie, it wasn't a prank, it wasn't a dream. It was all real.

It took me some time to finally speak again, asking them the one question that was on my mind right now.

'What on earth are you guys?'

'We're hunters.'
