When we sat in the van after breakfast - Jin behind the wheel this time. Taehyung had planted himself next to me on one of the double seaters, right behind Jungkook and Jimin. Behind us, Yoongi had put headphones on, being as social as a rock. Hoseok was sound asleep on a single chair to my left, and Namjoon was sitting shotgun, again.
I had no idea what his problem was. Both Jin and Hoseok had assured me he didn't hate me, but I honestly wasn't sure. He hadn't looked at me once; it was as if I didn't even exist to him. Then again, I hadn't heard him speak much to anyone, really.
'Jimin, sit down.' Namjoon's voice sounded, as the guy in front of me was sitting on his knees, telling me about how he once made Jungkook buy him clothes.
'I am sitting.'
'I meant on your butt. Seriously, how old are you? Are you even wearing a seatbelt?'
'I am 26 years old.' The sassy man in front of me said.
'Act your age, then.'
'Yes, dad.' He mumbled, sitting down, pouting.
'What?'
'Nothing.' I looked at Taehyung, who looked back. I had no clue if it'd be okay to say something now - or what to say - and apparently, neither did the man next to me. In the meantime, Jungkook just sat next to Jimin, looking from the man next to him, to their leader and back.'Okay, time for music. Yoongi-ah!' Jin suddenly yelled, and judging by the way the man sitting behind me had been behaving, I wondered if Jin had some kind of death wish.
The man behind me grunted. So far, he hadn't attacked Jin yet, which was a relief both because he was our current driver, and because I genuinely liked Jin. He was kind, he told lame jokes that were mainly funny because they weren't funny, and his laugh made me laugh.
'What are we listening to today?'
'Same as always.'
'Yoongi, you're truly a ray of sunshine today.'
'That's his job.' Grumpy pointed at the still sleeping Hoseok. After this statement, he put his headphones back on, while Jin started rapping to whoever was listening that this was not the way to talk to your hyung. Jimin turned to me and chuckled, and I had to try my best not to giggle either. Thanks to Jin, the vibe in the car became happy and lighthearted once again - except maybe for that one spot behind me. For a while, we were just singing a variety of songs, with the ultimate highlight being Jin trying to rap to various songs, while being cheered on by the rest.
The younger boys and I played Kung Kung Ta for a while, laughing whenever someone would mess up - mainly Taehyung. When I eventually felt the van slow down, it was already turning dark outside.
We'd arrived at a factory-like building. As soon as Jin stopped the car, Namjoon got out, to open a big door - probably leading to a garage. Curious as I was, I just tried to see as much as possible.'Be careful, your eyes might fall out of your skull.' Jimin said, earning laughs from both Jungkook and Taehyung.
'You live here?'
'Yes.'
'Are you serious?'
'Yes.'
'How on earth did you afford a place like this?'
'Jin hyung.'
'Excuse me?' My mouth fell open. How did Jin get money to buy an entire building, then?
'Jin's parents used to be quite wealthy. His dad had quite a successful company.'
'Had? Did they-' I whispered, and Jimin nodded.
'That's how he joined.' I looked at the back of the man in the driver's seat. It was almost impossible to believe that that guy - the guy who told me dad jokes to make me feel at ease, the guy who just spent over half of the drive singing and rapping along to whatever song was playing - knew that much sadness as well. What about the others? What happened to them? Why did they join?
I didn't dare to ask, and I wasn't even sure if I wanted to know the answer.
When we eventually got out of the van - after Jin had driven it inside - I just looked around, amazed by the building I was in. It must've been a fire station in a previous life, judging by the fireman's pole that immediately caught my eye. Thankfully there was a set of stairs right next to it; I had no clue if I would dare to slide down that thing.
As soon as he got his bag out, Yoongi walked off, grunting something about "unpacking" and "starting dinner". Excitedly, Jungkook followed him. I smiled. Even though he was pretty muscular, he had something that just made him so pure. His sincere smile, his big doe eyes and his overall excitement reminded me of that of a puppy, or bunny even.
Namjoon looked at the two walking off, not caring to call them back. Instead, he eventually turned to the rest of us.
