EIGHT

EVERYONE WAS stood in the broadcasting room, waiting anxiously to see if Cheong-San had survived. Soo-Jin was pacing back and forth, worried for Cheong-San. Even though they weren't close, Soo-Jin still was troubled.

"Guys, look! Bare-Su! Bare-Su!"

Her eyes widened at the nickname and she ran towards the window where her peers were peering out. She moved in between Dae-Su and Wu-Jin and looked up. There, she saw Lee Su-Hyeok holding onto Lee Cheong-San while trying to kick off a zombie that was latching itself onto Cheong-San's leg.

"Hang on, Bare-Su!"

"Are you okay?"

"Stop hugging me." Cheong-San said out of breath. "I'm not hugging you." Su-Hyeok replied with a pant. Soo-Jin couldn't help but smile ever so slightly. Happy would be an understatement for her emotions when she saw Su-Hyeok.

Eventually, the boys climbed into the room and Soo-Jin didn't know what to do. Should she ignore Su-Hyeok? Should she hug him? No, she couldn't do that and she couldn't ignore him.

She went to step forward, to ask if he was okay, but seeing On-Jo grab hold of his hand she felt something odd and she didn't know what it was but all she knew, was that she hated it.

"Close it before they come in! Would you close it already?!" Na-Yeon whined, stamping her foot against the floor. "Oh, would you shut the fuck up!" Soo-Jin snapped, spinning around in anger. She was so fed up of the girls whining, she couldn't deal with it anymore. "Cheong-San is still out there! You want us to just shut him out?!"

"You go out and get him!" Na-Yeon yelled at Soo-Jin who scoffed. "You're nothing but a prostitute, so it wouldn't matter if you turned into one of them anyway!" She insulted.

"Soo-Jin is right, you bitch!" Gyeong-Su shouted as he got down from the windowsill to walk towards her.

"Is it a crime to want the window closed?"

"How can you be so selfish?" Gyeong-Su looked her up and down and she let out a huff. "I can't stand you, stupid welfie."

Na-Yeon went to turn away, put Gyeong-Su pushed her info the seat behind her and Soo-Jin couldn't help but smile slightly. "What did you just call me? First it's Soo-Jin and now me, huh?"

"Hey, come on." Cheong-San tried to pull Gyeong-Su away from Na-Yeon but he only pulled out of the grip. "You just hit me?"

"Yeah," Gyeong-Su nodded. "Call me that again." He threatened. "Hey, knock it off. What's going on over here?" Ms. Park asked as she walked over to them after shutting the window.

"He just hit me." Na-Yeon answered. "Only 'cause you called me a welfie and Soo-Jin a prostitute!" Gyeong-Su snapped. "Is it not true?" She raised a brow at him.

"You can't just say shit like that." Cheong-San said in disapproval. Soo-Jin went to take a step forward, but before she could, she felt a hand hold her wrist. She looked back and saw Su-Hyeok who shook his head and pulled her gently back to him.

"What's a welfie anyway?" Ms. Park wondered. "Tell me." She demanded. "What is it? What's a welfie?"

"A person on welfare." Su-Hyeok broke the silence. "What?" The teacher questioned. "It means, a person on welfare." As he explained, Soo-Jin felt his hand rest on her hip which made her cheeks go a tint of red. "'Welfie' for short."

Ms. Park turned back towards Na-Yeon and Gyeong-Su and sighed. "Na-Yeon, that was wrong. Don't ever say that again. And Gyeong-Su, when you hit people, you're the one who ends up losing. Do you understand?"
