The sound of the birds chirping puts her mind at ease. Willa's hair cascades down into a thick braid ending at the small of her back. Some hairs wisp around her face as a light breeze causes them to tickle her skin. She smiles, taking in a long, deep breath. This is something she's going to miss. Nature. All of its melodic sounds, its incredible views, and the animals living off the land. There's a squirrel climbing up a tree at the far end nearest towards the road. It goes about halfway, maybe ten feet up onto branch, before releasing the acorns in its mouth where the entry of his home lays.
She's most definitely going to miss her fireflies. How will they react when she stops showing up? How will they adapt and move on? Most importantly, how will she move on?

Ok?
it gets better
i start making my way down the porch, nearly fall flat on my face
but just wait
Oh I thought that was going to be the best part XD.
- _ -
i start making my way across the little field between our houses and i just get baffled

What do you mean?
my point exactly

At the end of her steps, Jasper's leaning against the railing. He smirks when she jumps in surprise, puts his phone into the black sweatshirt pocket, and reaches behind him for a green and red object. At first it appears to be an ordinary rose but with a closer look, Willa makes out jagged edges as if pieces of Legos have been placed and glued together.
He gestures the item forward with a raised eyebrow.
Her skeptical gaze doesn't halt his efforts. She sighs before standing and meeting him at the top of the porch. She doesn't want to touch it, afraid as soon as she does, it'll crumble to pieces. Willa peers at the item confused but takes it within her grasp anyways.
Jasper gets out his phone again.

its not stupid is it
cause if it is i can throw it away
it's totally cool
"Jasper." Willa chuckles, placing her hand over top his own, attempting to ignore the goosebumps traveling through her entire body. "I love it. Thank you."
Their eyes connect and for a moment, nothing around them exists. Willa's breath hitches as his stormy grey irises dart between her own heterochromatic ones for a few, nerve wracking moments. The thoughts flowing in her mind are ones she's never experienced before. She wishes, placing all anxiety to the side, that he'd close the distance. She wants to feel his hands on her face pressing them close together in a warm hug followed by a book worthy kiss.
On instinct, Willa takes a step back to regain her breath. "U-Uh, would...would you want to come-come inside for a bit, maybe? I could make us some sushi or something."
What am I doing? I know what the end result is going to be, so why am I trying? WHy am I feeling like this?
She notices the pink tint on his cheeks.

i'd be honored, firefly
lead the way

Is this the fourth update back to back? Holy, I'd never thought I'd see the day. It's merely a thank you and a little bit of something after all of the hiatuses I've taken.
I looked back on the dates that I published each chapter and I didn't realize that I had waited like three or four months at one point before posting another chapter and when I saw that I felt so bad.
That's usually why when I read stories on here I try to only go after the ones that are completed so I don't have to wait. But here we are. I can promise you right now, I won't take another break like that.
Want to know why?
We're just another chapter closer to the end.
That sounded scary, my bad. I'm not trying to give you guys anxiety XD.
But anyways, I love their relationship so much. It's so innocent and sweet. I feel like their character development has come such a long way in these short thirty-seven chapters.
