A calming breeze washes over the sprouting dandelions outside of Willa's flower garden. Most think of them as a weed, a plant that invades space and ruins everything else around it. Though, to Willa, they're just as beautiful as a fully bloomed white rose. She looks at them with a smile, leaning against her polished wooden gate.

Joyous barks sound from the neighbors rear yard. Jasper silently laughs as Kona misses the toy in his hand, waving it back and forth before throwing its twisted, dirt covered form near the tree line. He pats his legs and ushers the dog to come back with a smile reaching the corner of his lips.

Willa can't help but watch this interaction. She's always wanted a pet but being able to afford one is another story, especially for a service dog.

Kona slows from a sprint to a trot on her way back then stops all together.

Everything around Willa blurs together in splotches of green, white, and yellow until the sudden pain bouncing between both her temples forces her to her knees.

Not now, please.

Despite Jaspers attempts to get his dogs attention, Kona walks a few steps in the other direction, whining while looking at his neighbors house, more specifically the back gate of the garden.

Willa struggles to even her breath out before the dirt beneath her touch becomes a new bed. A few seconds go by but they drag on to an eternity. She blinks over and over again to rid of the black tunnel forming around her vision.

Ping!

if I come over to your gate are you gonna freak out and trip on air

kona won't stop staring at it and whining

Willa struggles to see the messages pop up on her phone as it lays on the ground in front of her. She makes out a few words like 'come over' and 'won't stop whining' but everything else jumbles together. She reaches for it and fumbles to type a few words back, hitting send, and taking a final deep breath before trying to stand despite the vertigo pressing in on her.

Ping!

uh...

im going to assume that "dontus wirry, everhythhbing finn" means that no ones trying to murder you so I'll just be on my way.

Jasper sighs, pocketing his phone and tapping Kona on the side to let her know it's time to go in. She refuses the first few pats but eventually steers away towards their wrap around deck. His eyes wanders back towards the gate.

Ping!

Willa takes a few deep breaths, eventually finding herself in a state of exhaustion but is able to see again.

🥀

I am so so so sorry for this long awaited update. I know I've kinda gone off the grid for awhile but were also back in school and I have a job so I haven't had much time to write. I also haven't had that much motivation for this story and it gets difficult when I'm try to write dialogue because there's really only two characters and one secluded-ish area where most of the story is going to take place so there isn't going to be much scenery change.

I will try my best to get more chapters up but I can't guarantee another hiatus like that won't happen again. I thank you all for sticking around through everything and being patient.

As always, don't forget to
