Chapter Thirteen: Hugging like Friends

~Toby's POV~

Driving back to LA was pain staking, considering the whole time Sadie was fooping miserable. Jack and Sean where dead quiet, while Elizabeth couldn't. She wouldn't stop talking about how she was going to live with Jack and how excited she was.

It seemed Sadie was happy, but her mood and the way her eyes looked when she looked into mine, it was anything but. I leaned forward to turn on the radio, considering I didn't want any awkward.

"Welcome to your L.A radio. Today at the Anaheim Convention Center..."

Sadie reached and clicked it off to a music station, almost breaking the knob.

"Don't let them know we're coming. Hiyah! Tiptoe higher!" It was that band... Imagine Dragons. Sadie started singing to it a bit and I saw her smile out of the corner of my eye.

"You like this song?"

"I love this band! Also The Fray, Muse, OneRepublic.."

"It's too late I got a Maaaaaccc." I started singing as soon as she said they name.

"It's too late!!"

We started laughing and singing along to the songs we knew, even the songs we didn't know. Jack, Sean, and even Elizabeth didn't exist. It was all about the girl next to me.

~Sadie's POV~

I must have fallen asleep, because this was too nice to be real.

I was holding hands with Toby, sitting on a park bench, a breeze blowing. We were laughing and having a good time. Seeing the way I looked next to him was odd. I never liked third person dreaming.

He kissed me full on and I felt myself blush, but the physical me didn't even blink. She pushed him away. Great. The nightmare part of my dreams was coming.

Dream me pushed him away and started yelling. It was all gibberish, but I could tell she was pissed off. Toby put his hands up defensively, his eyebrows lifting. I could only hear what he said.

"I love you Sadie! Why do you deny me that?!"

Whole bunch of gibberish. The scene faded out to white. Now it was only trees around me. I heard a crunch. I turned scared, despite it being my own dream. Toby was standing there, eyes wide.

"What the hell?"

"Sadie.. Why are you in my dream?"

"You're in mine!" I turned to the scene, now they were shoving.

I awoke on a couch, gasping for breath. I heard a low yell from another room. I looked around. I was in a house. How'd I get in a house?

I stood up now, worried. Toby came running in, pupils dilated and eyes wide.

"What the hell?!"

"Did we..."

Toby ran his hand through his hair, ruffling it more. I noticed what he was wearing then. Boxers. Nothing else. I couldn't avert my eyes. Holy crap. Stop staring Sadie! I turned my head to face the entry to the kitchen, and there was a dog.

The dog, a shitzu, barked loudly at me. Toby shook his head, thankfully not noticing my staring.

"Gryphon stop it. This is our new friend Sadie Thompson. Can you say hello?" He had a baby voice and it was so adorable. Gryphon barked once more and wagged his tail. I got into a crouching position and Gryphon charged me. He was like a murder tank.

"Sorry about him." Toby bent down to grab his collar and Gryphon jumped onto Toby. They both collided into the floor in front of me and I had to laugh.

~Toby's POV~

She had a great smile. Medium white teeth, it actually looked like my mouth when I laughed. But when she smiled, it was all her own. She fell onto her back and I had to smile.

I thought back to the dream. We somehow connected. We were talking and everything. Why was she dreaming we kissed? Why was I dreaming that we kissed? I looked at her playing with Gryphon and looked down at myself. I stood up.

"Come here." I held my arms out to her and she stood up slowly.

"Why?" She raised an eyebrow. I was shirtless and didn't have pants on, I could see why she was nervous.

"Hug?" She inched forward then threw her arms around my neck, burying her head into my shoulder. Her body was so warm. And her soft skin. I pulled her closer.
