"Sadie? Sadie."

I rolled over in my bed, rubbing my eyes and squinting them. My little sister was sitting on my stomach, her hands on my face. I was a college student, and today was the first day of Winter Break.

"You up Sad Face?"

"Yeah I am Boo Boo."

"Good. Because mommy made pancakes."

I sat up to the word pancakes, and Elizabeth fell off my stomach, crashing onto the floor.

"Ow! Mommy!!" I got up, my feet hitting the bare wood floors and making me shiver. I bent over and picked my little sister up by her wrists.

"You okay Boo?"

She had tears running out of her blue eyes, and she just nodded. Taking her hand, I walked toward my open bedroom door and down the stairs to the kitchen.

The patio was being occupied by my older brother Ryan, who wasn't in college and four years older than me. The patio looked out into the ocean because we lived in Santa Monica, right on the beach.

"Well good morning Sadie."

My mother was standing over the stove, her dark hair in a braid, silver running through some of it.

"Hey mom. Pancakes?"

My mother turned around and smiled. Her green eyes were shining happily and she smiled.

"I thought from your first day back you would love pancakes. And you might want to check your email. The computer has been freaking out."

I rubbed my eyes and walked toward the office where I usually did my work. Sitting down in the chair, I turned on my iMac, and BOOM! I had 30 new frikin emails. I put on my glasses and looked at the screen.

All from Delaney. Good Lord that girl. I clicked on them and they were all about meeting her for lunch or dinner or anything. I clicked off the computer and sat up. God this was going to be fun.

Eating breakfast with the family was kind of weird. I was used to being alone. My sister had on a "I Can Swing My Sword Shirt" I bought her for her birthday last year. Her dirty blonde hair spilled over her shoulders, looking like a rats nest.

"So Sadie," my mother started promptly. "So how was college for this semester?"

"Mom.." My brother groaned through his pancakes.

"Ryan Taylor. Sadie, you going to tell us how school was."

"It was awesome. Majoring in choral arts is fun. And also working in sciences is fun too."

"Sadie, why don't you ask Beth what she wants for her birthday.

"Beth, what do you want for your birthday?"

Beth smiled big and ran out of the dining room up the stairs. I heard her open her door, and run around for a moment.

"She's so excited Sadie." My mom smiled at me and I heard Beth's little feet run down the stairs.

She held out a pair of tickets to me and looked at them. VidCon tickets. I looked at Elizabeth wide eyed and pulled my glasses off.

"Elizabeth. How did you get these?"

"Mommy got us these for my birthday. You ready to go with me in August?!"

I turned to stare at my mother and she gave me the death stare.

"Sure baby girl. Anything."
