"Let's not make this weird."
Hobi stared at the ground as Yugeom's words bounced around in his head. How could it not be weird? Whenever they touched it was as if electricity burned through both of them, and though neither one had used the word, they were both thinking it. Soulmates.
"I don't want it to be weird," Hobi acknowledged, "but you have to admit that this," he motioned between the two of them, "is weird."
Yugyeom sighed and leaned back, his head smudging the studio mirror. Hobi made a mental note to scold him on that later.
"Hoseok," Yugeom stated, the word rolling off his tongue with a sense of bitterness, "Jung Hoseok."
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you my full name sooner," Hobi quietly apologized. "I just assumed it would make things, well...weird."
Yugyeom shook his head, a hint of amusement on his face. "Hobi, I like you. You're an amazing dancer and person. I feel so lucky and proud to know you and work with you. You have to know this."
Hobi chuckled, "This feels like a break-up speech, and we're not even dating."
"I suppose it comes across a little like that." Yugyeom smiled, "I've told you before that BamBam isn't on my wrist, but I don't think I've clarified what that means."
Hobi stayed silent and let Yugyeom explain.
"I plan on marrying him, BamBam," Yugyeom clarified, "which means there's someone out there who has been looking for me, their soulmate, their entire life. I have played the moment I meet them over and over again in my mind, all of the different possible scenarios, but they all have the same outcome. I know that I could never love anyone more than I love my boyfriend. I could never feel anything more towards somebody else, even if that person is my soulmate. So, you see, I've never felt much of a desire to meet either person on my wrist. I've struggled with feeling selfish over this decision for years, but I've come to accept that if I can find love outside of destiny, then so can my soulmate."
Yugyeom was looking at Hobi with pleading eyes. He was silently begging Hobi to understand what he was saying. He wasn't intentionally causing heartache or sorrow, but he wasn't willing to give up the person he loved the most in the world. In a twisted way, it was both poetic and romantic.
"I understand," Hobi stated, unsure of how he was to feel. "BamBam is a very lucky man."
"So is Yoongi," Yugyeom acknowledged with a wink, unknowingly causing Hobi's stomach to churn with conflicted guilt.
If Yoongi found out that he wasn't Hobi's soulmate, that would be all the reason he needed to leave. It would be wrong of Hobi not to tell him, but if Yoongi left him, he'd be left with nobody.
