•Chapter Fourteen: The Man With The Green Eyes•

The next day, I get a call from Hiccup telling me his whole Merida story. It's pretty cool, since he's been wanting to kiss her for a really long time.
Naturally, he now wants to ask her to be his girlfriend. Finally. I guess he feels like it's finally the right time since she kissed him back and all that. So, being the best friend I am, I told him I would help him out a little bit.
There's this annual "Back In Time" masquerade thing that the town does every summer, and I'm pretty sure it's the perfect place. I'll ask Anna and everyone to come and we'll party over there and he can ask Merida.
I knock gently on the door of Anna's house and she opens immediately. I hold out the bouquet of "carnations" with the invitation stuck in it.
"Good morning, princess." I say.
Anna curtsies and grins, taking the flowers. "Good morning! What's this?" She picks up the invitation and read it.
"They do this every summer and everyone's invited." I explain. "Hiccup wants to ask Merida to be his girlfriend so I thought this would be a good opportunity." I shrug like it's no big deal, as if I didn't actually spend two hours searching every event in town this week.
Anna gasps in excitement. "That would be so fun! I'll call everyone and we'll go shopping!"
I smile. "Sounds perfect! I'll pick you up at 8:00."
I go to kiss her, but she puts her finger on my lips. "My sister's right here." I here a small gasp the floor creaks. "Bye!"
Then she slams the door right on my face. I shake my head and laugh, then head away. I've gotta go plan with the guys, now.

We had all gone shopping for the masquerade. I insisted several times that I didn't want to go, since I was the only one without a partner, but at some point they said they would drag me there in pajamas if they had to. This was going to be one awkward night.
I called Kuzco earlier to see if he would go with me, but he said he had to go over lines from his movies with some giggly girl named Melina (I guess she's his partner in one of the movies. He still hasn't made his decision, and he said this would help). I didn't mind; I knew this was important for him.
"Can you tell who I am?" Anna giggles in her smooth yellow mask. She's wearing a sleeveless yellow dress that has silver beads around the empire waist. The skirt puffs out in beautiful layers, which are so puffed out that even she couldn't trip on them.
Punzie giggles in response, attempting to fix her crooked purple mask. Her lavender dress is long sleeved and doesn't poof out, but isn't exactly straight either. It shimmers with hidden sparkle every time she takes a step. I think it would look great under moonlight. "This is going to be so much fun!"
Merida, of course, isn't nearly as excited as they are to be going. But I think she's really starting to like Hiccup, because she hasn't complained about the date out loud even once! She's wearing a mermaid style emerald green dress, since the only color she ever wears as dresses is green. Her mask, however, is golden. It's actually a really beautiful addition the the costume.
I had picked out a slim fitting midnight blue dress to wear. The dress has a few silver jewels encrusted in it, and they seem to sparkle in even the smallest bit of light. Thankfully, the dress was made specifically for the masquerade, so it came with a perfectly matching mask. As a fancy touch, I added long white gloves. I decide to leave my hair down for the first time since the fall dance at school. I don't know why I do; I guess it just seems to add to the "mystery".
