•Chapter Eight: A Box And A Note•

*Thank you for your comments on the last update! It helped a lot!*

•Elsa•

It's almost 2:00 when I finally get out of the house. Jamie asked me about a billion questions about why we had to leave the pool and what was so important and then I had to decide what to wear, but eventually everything was resolved. For once, Anna didn't have a date with Kristoff, so she offered to stay home and watch Jamie. I decided to wear a light purple flowy tank top, white shorts, and purple sandals. After a long time of indecision, I finally ended up wearing the snowflake he gave me as a nice touch. Hopefully it won't be weird. Then I just pulled my hair into my classic French braid and grabbed my sunglasses and was off.

It doesn't take long to get to Freia, but I'm still about ten minutes late. As I get out of the car, I suddenly realize. How am I supposed to know who it is?! I have no idea anything about this guy, except he has good taste and he's really sweet. That doesn't exactly help me here!

Once I search the area a little, my eyes land on an empty table. Well, almost empty. There's a heart shaped box of chocolates laying on it and a note- identical to the other ones He's given me. I walk towards it, hoping I'm not stealing someone's chocolates.

The box contains all dark chocolate. I'm actually not a huge fan, but it's okay. It's the thought that counts, right? The note isn't very long; actually it's only one sentence. Is he actually here? Or did he get too scared and leave me with just a box and a note?!

I read it aloud carefully. "Sometimes it is the most bitter things that are the sweetest." That sounds really familiar. I can't quite remember where it's from, but I swear I've heard that before!

After another minute of staring at the paper, I gasp. "Wait a second, isn't that-"

I start but am cut off by a smooth, familiar voice behind me. "You said that to me once. Remember?"

I watch Elsa get out of her car and look around. I can't help but smile, waiting to see her face when she gets the surprise. She's gonna be so shocked!

After a while, she notices the chocolates and walks over to the table. I quietly start walking towards her, listening for her reaction.

"Sometimes it is the most bitter things that are the sweetest." Elsa reads aloud. I don't think she gets it at first, but finally she gasps. "Wait a second, isn't that-"

I cut her off. "You said that to me once. Remember?" Surprisingly, my voice sounds pretty smooth, but I'm freaking out on the inside. This is the most nerve-racking thing I've ever done and I'm pretty sure my heart is going to explode any second now.

Elsa jumps when I speak. Did she think I just left her? She doesn't turn around for a while and I start to question myself. Is she going to hate me more? Am I pushing too hard? I thought for sure she would love this, but was I wrong?

My nervousness starts to turn my smooth smirk into a worried frown. Elsa turns slowly, wide-eyed, and looks at me. Her mouth is in that tight line of hers and I can't tell if she's happy or not.

"Jack? What are you..." She hesitates. Elsa looks down and then back up at me a couple of times and I nod slowly. I think she's getting it now. "I-it was you?"

I try to smoothly smile again, but probably fail. "Yes, it was me the whole time."

Elsa opens her mouth to say something, but abruptly starts to turn around. No, she can't leave! This can't end badly! I won't accept that our story doesn't have a good ending!
